. >> olga breese is in for howard. good morning, olga. >> the steaminess is back. >> it is a little bit hard to breathe out there even at this hour of the morning. normally, we get a little bit of a break overnight. not the case right now. our current temperatures are very, very warm. in and around the beltway. most of us are in the middle range to the upper 70s. humidity value very, very high. it will be a sticky start to the morning. but we'll definitely see the possibility of a few spot showers and scattered thunderstorms possible later on this afternoon. here's how it breaks down for your day planner. we're close to the 80 degree mark. we'll be there at national airport. then as we head in toward the afternoon, temperatures rise out of the 80s. we're looking at a warm stretch for the entire week. the forecast for today should take us to about 91 for washington. we'll see 93 toward leesburg. we could even see some of the upper 80s around most of the region. let's take a look at the morning drive. >> good morning, eve

>>> i'm here with olga breese, she's in for howard bernstein. right to the day's forecast and holiday ahead. >> holiday is looking good. no pressure on this important holiday forecast. starting off this morning with very cool conditions. the northwest breezes working in our favor for the last several days. humidity values continue to stay low. today and tomorrow. but as we go through the next couple of days you will notice as we dial up the heat it starts to feel more like a typical summertime pattern here in the nation's capital. for today though. i think we get another treat coming our way. 73 degrees by the 9:00 hour for reagan national airport. wind mainly out of the north at 6 miles per hour. the lower 80s through midday and late day and even upper 80s by the 5:00 hour. there can be a passing cloud from time to time. but just the fair weather clouds and it's not going to bring us any rain chances or any significant moisture. go out and enjoy. the forecast overall features high pressure and that's where we'll quiet here on the satellite and

olga breese in for howard bernstein. nice start to the morning, but changes are in the wind. >> changes are in the winds, but at least we have today ask most of thunderstorm is going to be pretty pleasant -- of tomorrow is going to be pretty pleasant. right now though, things are looking pretty goods. we have a forecast that features lots of sunshine through midday and late day. get a little bit of a breeze now. the northwest winds still with high pressure ruling is keeping our humidity values low. so the drier air makes it much more comfortable. as we push out of the 60s by mid-morning, we'll hit some lower 80s by noontime. and that means you need to have your sunglasses around for the remainder of day. then later on this afternoon, national airport should top out around 87 degrees. we'll be slightly cooler in a few of the suburbs but still a very nice day even at the evening. satellite and radar has been very, very quiet. we expect it to stay that way. in fact, you can see the clouds moving around that high pressure sy

so let's get right to olga breese's forecast. food one or good and hot one? >> well, it depend on how you like it. for those who like it hot, we're going to satisfy you before you the weekend is out. for right now though, cool start to the morning, the day planner starting off on the mild side. most of us into the upper 60s and low 70s for the overnight lows. we're gone to keep on moving, out of the 70s into the 80s by late morning. in fact, midday. good time to stroll outside and go to a park and even have the lunch outdoors as we push into the lower 80s. by late afternoon though, expecting the city temperature to get into the upper range 80s and even 90s across the southern zones and a passing cloud from time to time. but in all a very nice day as temperatures back off as we get closer to sunset. forecast for today, satellite and radar has been quiet. we've been talking a lot about this high pressure system that has been basically dominating the eastern seaboard. it's still with us. and the know around that system is still northwest and we're going to conti

at 6:15, we say good morning to olga breese in for howard bernstein. howard is on his way down to florida. hopefully he'll get to see the launch of atlantis. but it may not take place on friday. >> that's true. we're tracking some moisture moving on in. in fact, our wind this morning, calm to light. led to muggy conditions for this morning. but that south-southwest breeze is moving on in and the gulf moisture is definitely moving north. for us, around the metro area for today though, we'll keep overcast skies through midday and late afternoon as temperatures push through the 80s into the upper 780s by midday. with the instability around, high dew points and muggy conditions, we'll stir up some shower and thunderstorm activity later on this afternoon. not everyone is going to get wet but we do have a pretty good chance at seeing scattered showers and thunderstorms by early afternoon and early evening. so, have the umbrella with you today just in case. i also want to tell you that our air quality is very, very poor. we're code orange for today. so, limit
