committee, senator kent conrad and ranking republican member of the small business community senator olympia snowe mac. both senators conrad and snowe had a long history of working across the aisle to reach consensus. we also reached out to senator kennedy. had meetings with him. all the relevant ranking members together met with senator kennedy and how gracious he was and how much he wanted to work together. he wasn't trying to do this for ted kennedy. it was for people who needed health care....
