and i want to say right here, that 99% of people in omaha are law abiding citizens, omaha is a greatce to raise a family. and what we're talking about is the 1% of the people in omaha who represent a disproportionate part of the population. tonight i learned that apparently the state cps has had this family, been watching them and investigating them since at least august. back in october of 2013, there was a shooting at a house here in town where apparently the 16-year-old mother and -- >> the 16-year-old mother of that 3-year-old boy? that little boy has a 16-year-old mother. go ahead. >> that is right. as i understand it, yes. and somebody walked up and shot -- fired the gunfire into the house and at least two adults were hit, including the 16-year-old in the shoulder. and apparently the shrapnel hit the toddler in the foot. subsequently, they moved as recently as december 16th. the omaha police department investigated it. there was a drive by shooting and the helicopter followed the car that left the scene. and while the helicopter followed the car four people fled from the vehicl

nbc's gabe gutierrez is in omaha. gabe, good morning. >> reporter: willie, good morning. in addition to those two killed ten others were hospitalized and four of them critically hurt and dozens more barely managed to escape where authorities are calling an industrial accident. today investigators will be back here at the scene trying to find out what shredded this animal feed plant with 38 workers inside. so far authorities have not said what triggered the collapse, but there were several daring rescues including one worker that had to be cut from concrete and steel. the occupational safety and health administration fined the plant's owner and international nutrition back in 2002 after a worker fell into a mixing tank. and again in 2012 after another inspection. so far the company has not commented, but police say it is cooperating fully. meanwhile again, investigators will be back today trying to figure out what caused this accident. >> this is a terrible story, gabe. thanks so much. >> the white house announced

there's a video that's been posted online by the omaha police officers association.arking a great deal of controversy and outrage. the video which the police union pulled from a local thug's facebook page shows a black toddler in diapers using very profane language while adults in the background are egging him on to curse, say all kinds of crazy things. the police union wrote on its website though the criminal showed no criminal behavior it was posted because it shows "the terrible cycle of violence and thuggery that some young innocent children find themselves helplessly trapped in." the executive director of black men united of omaha say the police union crossed the line by posting that video and called their decision divisive. the president of the group disagrees and says they do not intend to take it down. willie hamilton joins us now via skype and also with us nationally recognized educator, dr. steve perry. first of all, i should note for our viewers who are watching and listening that the language on the video is so offensive that we've chosen not to play any
