well, that's attributed to general omar bradley, who served in world war two. so it's not really that old compared to the material we're covering. but it it applies pretty well to military history in general. and if you were to look at the literature on the american revolution and think about this amateur study strategy, professional study, logistics, you'd think, wow, most of the authors who write books about the american revolution are kind of in the amateur category because there's book after book after book about the battles and the campaigns and the campaigns in the battles. but we don't have many books about the things that most of the armies spent most of their time on. the recruiting and the training, earning and of course, the logistic costs and the difficulties of moving material and people from place to place. the the challenges of of managing harmonious relations between an army and a local population. this is a difficult thing. the kinds of discipline and military justice that you need to keep an army together and functioning properly. this is how
