tough go already in world war two it starts as a pennsylvanian national guard unit and of course, omar bradley was the original commander of it and kind of whips it into shape, you know, before deployed overseas, they see their first combat in the battle of normandy. that's in july 1944. and that was a pretty tough go they have a wonderful moment was really, on balance, their best moment of world two when they get to parade in paris. so when you see those pictures of american troops on those shamsa, alexei and whatnot, they're probably from the 28 division. but the bad was they were just passing through and they weren't going to get to stay there, unlike the fourth i.d., which got to stay a little bit longer, had a little bit better time. but the 28th i.d. then moves on, deal with the siegfried line so they are they're fighting that battle circa september portions of october 1944. and that is no easy go, let me tell you. so they've been degraded already in terms of their casualties. it started out as like somebody these national guard units do, they start out as a as a kind of state identity o
