omar lewis, 7 news. >> anchor: in the convicted killer's bid to get a shorter sentence, they put his mother on the stand. jessica holly is there with the test. jessica? >> reporter: christine, it's day 3 of the resentencing hearing for convicted killer michael hernandez, hoping to get a shorter sentence. asasyou said his mother first to take the standment let's go inside thqt courtroom this morning. she faced question after question regarding her son's choice of death metal music and and details about who he plans to kill and her involvement and lack of involvemenenin his decision making day-to-day as a chd. at just 14 michael hernandez slit the throat of his friend. that was in 2004. now in 2016 hernandez is 26 and hoping to have his life sentence reduced. mother on the stand. >> so you believe that he sho not have been found guilty and gone to prison, correct? >> i didn't say that. i said i don't believe a 14 year old should be an adult. >> okay. so you believe the system has treated him wrongly, correct? >> i believe any system that treats a 14 year old as an adult is wrong, yes.
