the suspect in connection with the san bruno active shooting at the tanforan shopping center was on bart and the bart train was at the 12th street or 14th street station. immediately, barlt clot closed station, stopped the trains and we assisted with a systematic evacuation and search. we want to thank the bart riders. they were extremely corporative. that's absolutely key when you're in a time critical moment. >> people were terrified. we see video of people getting down on the ground with their hands up. i mean, people were frightened at that time. >> what we do know is there was a shooting where two people have been shot down in san bruno. it was indicated it was an active shooting. that's always concerning for our community and we received information that that individual responsible for it is on the bart train and that bart train is in the city of oakland. we know it's in the downtown area extremely busy. we have city hall with 5,000 employees here in the city that some of them take public transportation. we have private businesses here. so it is really key that we have a very quick

the shooters might have escape on bart. more from crime reporter henry lee.>> reporter: this is video making the rounds on social media showing one of the two shooters at the tanforan mall in san bruno. he is opening fire on the second floor of the food court. surveillance video obtained by ktvu shows a group of young people scattering after the shots are fired. police say they had argued with another group just before the shooting.>>> i was standing right behind here. suddenly we hear a lot of shouts. shots were going pop.>> reporter: a dashcam shows the chaos that shoppers flee into the parking lot. police say the two shooters escaped despite a quick response by officers from across the peninsula. an officer was already in the mall when the shots were fired.>>> the officer was on the first floor of the food court reported hearing gunfire on the second floor. the boat a boy he was shot in the stunner. his staff sergeant in the mall rushed to help him. it's 12-year-old boy was hit in the leg. both were in serious condition.
