glad to be on c-span. i am a grandmother. i took it guardianship of my grand kids in 10 years ago. became cocaine positive and it wanted to take the other one that i had, that was seven. i took custody because it did not want to see them. i have been a nurse 40 years. at any rate, we went to court and i was given first guardianship. i had to go through those preparation programs, has been down by. at that time, i was awarded $2,000 a month for four kids and i was working. my husband is a teamster come a truck driver, and i was in tears. was a to do that -- i nurse. the judge said they wanted permanency. we are going back and forth to court, taking care of the kids. it was explained to me by my case worker that guardianship was ok. my money went to $2,000 down to $315 with tanf. i got healthwise. i did not think our husband's job would allow it if we adopted. when i tried, they told me it would be $9,000 a child. i do not have $9,000. i could not adopt if i wanted to. i was beat up by that. i tried to contact my case worker. the woman initially said that it was ok. she no longer work

we're veering away from a democracy toward a plutocracy, where money -- you don't see it on c-span. would like him to comment on the effect of money in politics. the gridlock in the senate. the senate cannot pass bills without 60 -- a super majority. we're now $15 trillion in debt and it is getting worse. we have the super committee. i think we have a problem in the senate, which is inaction. there's no debate in the senate anymore. host: you seem to indicate that inaction is a good thing. guest: there has been a problem of inaction in the senate. it has been an unwillingness to move major legislation. they have wanted things to begin in the house. the senate has not passed a budget. that is true. no budget has failed to get 60 votes. that is a conscious decision by the senate leadership. host: a question about campaign finance. guest: he talked about anonymous money. i think the solution to the money in politics problem would be a system of transparency. funding of all campaigns being visible to all. every campaign donations should be public. host: super pacs have to report. guest:
