host: next year, you will be able to watch the dinner on c-span. what moment or moments will stand in your mind? >> every year when i'm on stage but behind a pillar in case people need me from the head table and i see the color guard come in and everyone is standing and marine band playing, i think this is pretty darn special. host: you look forward to the book coming out. what has stood out in your research. what story is most interesting? >> so many of them. but one was last year. in researching the 1946 dinner, i found the first african-american dinner was a 7-year-old, described as a 7-year-old negro piano child and his name is frankie robinson and i tracked him down and he is still alive. i invited him to the dinner last year and with julie's help, i took him to the reception and introduced him to the first african-american president. the first african-american person at the dinner in 1946. and it was moving for both of them and i was glad to make that happen. host: the book comes out in about a year. >> finish this year and come out next year.
