every day facebook has 1.3 billion active users, and 2.3 billion active users on twitter. that's the idea of a scope of web of fear that the supreme court justices were grappling with, lisa stark reports. >> reporter: pennsylvania res dent anthony alonis went to prison after posting voibilitys language -- violent language on facebook about shooting up a kindergarten class, attacking an fbi ate. and attacking his ex wife saying: he argued his words were therapeutic, nothing more than rap lyrics, protected by free speech. he was convicted after a jury found that a reasonable person would consider what alon irk s wrote to be a threat. the supreme court threw out the conviction. chief justice john roberts writed for the majority avoided addressing the free speech part of the case saying a criminal conviction requires an intent to act on the threat. and justices tole the lower court to reconsider the case. justices sam alito and clarence thomas worried that the majority did not explain what was needed to prove intent to carry out a threat. as justice thomas wrote: we spoke with

shutting down an alleged fake account is easy on facebook. to do is go to a clickdown box and click report. this group is saying that this process of shutting down the accounts isn't fair right now. facebook has come out and said the following. i want to go to their statement saying that we are committed to ensuring that all members of the facebook community can use the names they use in real life having people use their authentic names makes them more accountable and helps us root out accounts created for malicious purposes like harassment, fraud, impersonation and hate speech. the point being that facebook has a process in place because it doesn't want people hiding behind unanimous names and harassing people on facebook. you know you are sharing information and pictures to people you hope you actually know. facebook does say that that you have had an ongoing conversation with these groups and they are in the process of seeing about making changes but that there is an ongoing dialogue going on. >> alison cockkosik reporting live. thank you.

this man had posted threatening posts on facebook. he said that it was his therapy. his wife felt therapy. and he was convicted to prison for 44 months based on that a reasonable person would feel threatened by what he posted online. the court said that's not good enough. you need a criminal intent and attempt to carry out these threats to have a conviction. so they tossed out his conviction to back to the lower court and said look at this possible case again to see if he can be convicted on another standard. it's a wash for domestic violence groups who want tight regulations on what you can say online. >> very interesting. listening to that abercrombie and fitch case and the hijab. what did the court decide there? >> the court decided that the store violated the civil rights of this woman. she came in for an interview. she was wearing the head scarf and she did not get the job because someone figured she's muslim and will probably want to wear this. well the court found that it violated her civil waters. an employer may not take adverse action against a job applican
