thanks for joining us tonight on kron. 4 news at 5. i'm grant lotus and i'm noelle bellow, rodney jefferson's past run-ins with the law were discussed during his arraignment earlier today. kron four's dan kerman reports. >> it's here along the embarcadero were 54 year-old rodney jefferson. >> was arrested tuesday after prosecutors say he hit 2 pedestrians and led police on a chase across town. jefferson was arraigned thursday afternoon and pled not guilty to 2 counts of leaving the scene of an accident. reckless driving with great bodily injury, evading an officer and driving on a suspended license. cameras were not permitted to show his face in court. authorities say tuesday morning's incident began with jefferson hitting one person while doing donuts at market in jones and then leading police on a chase across town during that pursuit. prosecutors say jefferson hit a 14 year-old girl who was in a crosswalk outside francisco middle school. prosecutors say a vehicle was stopped to let the teenager cross. but jefferson drove around that

thank you so much for joining us here on kron. 4 news at 3. going to go now to kron. 4 charles clifford has details from the federal courthouse in san francisco. >> well, here in san francisco on friday, david de pap was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for assaulting paul pelosi. the husband of nancy pelosi, david de pap appeared in court in an orange jumpsuit. he showed very little emotion during the proceedings. the judge in this case sentenced him to 30 years for assault and 20 years for kidnapping. those sentences will run concurrently, meaning that he will receive a maximum of 30 years in federal prison minus the 18 months that he's already been in custody. now, the judge did allow several victim statements to be read into the record, including a statement from nancy pelosi who said that her husband is still struggling with his injuries and that she was in favor of the maximum sentence in this case. following the proceedings, the fbi made a statement to the media saying that they believe that justice has been served. >> today's sen

on campus. parents worried about the safety of their kids. now kron four's will tran is on the story. >> the kids are inside the classroom as we speak. but when they arrived to school, maybe show you video, they were met by adults, vice principals, principals, they in even brought in extra people to keep a close eye on the situation, including conflict counselors. now they want to make sure that the kids are safe because of what happened on friday. it took a couple of days for that nevada police department to ultimately look at the video and make arrests. 8 kids between 12 and 14 years old got into a fight on friday on campus. the charges include conspiracy as well as felony assault. that's how serious the situation was. now. the school district, according to many parents, they say that they have been told the school district many times bullying is a problem on campus. the school district did stop a possible fight on thursday. so that was prevented. but on friday, sure enough there was a huge fight on campus involving all of those kids. i got a chance
