the footage posted on youtube on thursday shows a chinese fishing vessel ramming two coast guard boats. the incident took place in japanese waters off the senkaku islands. china disputes japanese sovereignty over the islands. the coast guard says the cameramen who are identified in the video titles are the same people who shot the original footage. the coast guard has sent officials to its regional headquarters in okinawa where the video is being stored. prosecutors have begun an inquiry as they received a digitized copy of the video as evidence. they say the copy was stored in a computer accessible to officials at a district office no inn okinawa, a higher office in another location and the prosecutor's office in tokyo. they say the copy is now being stored in a memory device locked in a safe at the supreme prosecutor's office. naoto kan has instructed his cabinet to examine the video and tighten information control. >> translator: first of all, we must try to find out the truth about what happened. we'll do our utmost on that front. it is important for japan and china to deal with th

the footage was posted on video-sharing website youtube on thursday night. it was then copied and posted to other sites in japan and china. the footage appears to show the september incident near the senkaku islands in the east china sea. a japanese lawmaker who has seen the original footage says the internet video looks authentic. the original footage had been closely guarded by the japan coast guard and the prosecutor's offices on okinawa's ishigaki island. soon after the collision some of the footage was sent to coast guard headquarters in tokyo to brief the government about the incident. but the coast guard says that footage has been completely erased. the coast guard says copies of the footage were likely made when the incident was investigated. >>> a group of diet members says the japanese government should step up control of the senkaku islands and conduct on-site inspections. the non-partisan group led by former internal affairs minister kazuhiro haraguchi made the suggestion in recommendations to the government after aerial inspections of the island

that video has gone viral with more than 300,000 hits on youtube. mr. tyner said he checked the tsa website before he went to the airport so see if he would have to go through the x-ray machine and san diego airport was not listed. we checked and san diego was not on the list. but mysteriously it was added to the list later this afternoon along with many other airports. the tsa website says there are 385 x-ray machines at 68 airports nationwide. at those airports there are signs like this that tell passengers the x-ray scanners are optional for everyone, and, quote, if you choose not to be screened you will receive a thorough patdown. just how thorough? a lot more personal than they used to be as you just heard. "keeping them honest," no information about that on the tsa website and no details on what happens if you refuse to go through the x-ray machine and a patdown. mr. tyner who recorded the video believes both are an invasion of privacy and he says the government doesn't have any business seeing him naked as a condition of traveling about the count
