the cedar rapids city council is meeting in two special sessions today to continued updates on the flooding conditions. those meetings are at 9 this morning and 7 tonight at the cedar rapids ice arena. the council is looking into decreasing the evacuation zone pressure concerns. the city says the temporary barriers are keeping us safe so far above ground. but the worry is that water is putting too much pressure on the storm sewer system below ground. crews have been working all night, fighting dangerous conditions to makes sure everything is functional. city manager says it will be at least 2 days until they feel more comfortable with the river level. they are looking for the cedar river to get below 18 feet. the river crested just below 22 feet yesterday morning. and it's not expected to drop below 20 feet until thursday. law enforcement in cedar rapids are warning people to stay out of the evacuation zone. they say this will keep people safe and give them room to work. the city's fire chief mark english says a survey found troubling number of people in the evacuation zone flood walls, san
