but something else coming onshore are spinning thunderstorms. and some of them do have tornadoes with them. not large tornadoes, but you can go on twitter and look at the pictures from katy, texas, overnight, and see what happened there with a small tornado. doesn't take a big tornado at 110 or 120 miles per hour to do damage. that's what we saw last night. even already houston, texas, has issued 50 tornado warnings just since the storm started. and here's what we're expecting for the next few hours all the way into about what's that say 6:00 tomorrow morning. heavy, heavy rainfall on the eastern part. here's what i would call the eye, although it's in the truly an eye. it's just the center of circulation now because it isn't a hurricane anymore. but look at all of this rain. very close or just to the north of houston. and now all of that has to go right back into the gulf of mexico somehow. and if it goes through the city of houston, that's where the catastrophic flooding will be occurring later on this week. >> wow, still a long way to go. all

the western eyewall is now onshore. but the center of the eye is not onshore yet. that should happen in the next hour or two. we'll officially have our first major hurricane landfall in over 12 years in our country. by the way, this would also be the strongest since charlie hit florida, being a category 4 storm. here it is now on the map. you can see this bright red, this is the eyewall that is clearly onshore. the first thing, the big concern was corpus christi. that's the biggest population center on the map here, near the center of the landfall. they are being spared the eyewall, good news for all the people that evacuated corpus christi who are watching this, there was so much concern for their property. there will be damage, there will be trees down, but there won't be a devastating wind effect on the city. we'll wait and see what the rain does in the days ahead, but as far as the winds and the storm surge, you dodged that. this is as classic as it gets for a buzz saw hurricane. you can see the well-defined eye over the barrier islands and moving onshore. even

the onshore breeze remains with us.to continue in this pattern for your bay area weekend. here is a look at the future cast. when it comes to the cloud cover, by about noontime, or so, it is going to pull back and we will be partly to mostly sunny away from the coast. if you're going to be at the coastline for today, you may see a bit of late day clearing, right in there, right around stinson beach. but we could be partly cloudy for most of the day. mostly cloudy for areas like ocean beach. and golden gate park. and pacifica, half moon bay. if you're going out to outside lands, expect it to be cool and breezy for the afternoon. and meanwhile, if you go a little bit farther south, areas like santa cruz expected to have partly cloudy to mostly clear skies for the afternoon. as we get into the evening hours, moving back across the bay, and start over again tomorrow morning and the patch of blue indicating the drizzle. drizzle out there this morning. >>> and likely to have it again for tonight. a look at the temperatures ri

came onshore four miles east of rockport in southeastern texas.ving slowly to the northwest 5 to 6 miles per hour. that's the big problem with the storm, you can see the tornado watches off to the northeast in the front right quad quadrant, you can see the feeder bans wrapping around this thing. the port lavaca right here has seen high tide levels 6 feet above high tide levels. the bands wrapping around the center just pushed this water inland. it's during low tide, the tide can't push out because of the winds and the force of the storm push the water inland. they are seeing a tremendous amount of flooding with the storm. as i mentioned earlier it is just beginning. little movement is expected over the next five days it will sit and spin over southeastern texas, catastrophic flooding is predicted by the hurricane center. the latest update on the european model shows a location near victoria, 60 inches of rain. that's almost five feet of rain, incredible. some neighborhoods could be uninhabitable for the next several weeks if not months. >> hurrica

look at these arm bands with the onshore wind. this is the area under the biggest storm surge threat for today. the heaviest rain, you see, falling right over houston. this is an area where just in the last 24 hours has already seen in some spots close to 20 inches of rain. and still potentially another two feet to come over the next several days. catastrophic flooding is likely over the houston area. let's talk a lilt bit about some of the other conditions we're seeing with the tropical storm set-up. we have the area shaded in yellow, notice it's not reaching out to houston but it's still a small area where you have strong wind gusts. you also have the concern of rain totals like i mentioned. take a look at this kumg puter model as we put it into motion just through tomorrow morning. nearly ten inches more falling in houston. five inches more in victoria, and then we spread it out all the way thru to your thursday, and look at this number growing. almost two feet by thursday evening. additional rain expected in the area. let's go

we have the heavy feeder bands working onshore. corpus christi is out of the clear as far as the storm surge is concerned. it came onshore here it's this part of texas that saw the flooding that wall of water came in and devastated this part of texas, here. we'll find out just how bad the damage was as we start to pick up daylight which is happening now. 85 miles per hour category one storm. pressure 972 millibars. the storm is starting to weaken. the gust are as high as 100 miles per hour maybe more than that. what will happen over the next few days, we have a blocking area of high pressure to the northwest moving in across the four corner states. there's an area of high pressure blocking over my shoulder through here. the storm has nowhere to go with the jet stream so far to the north it's not even in the graphic there's no steering mechanism, it's sitting there. over the next several days, the national hurricane center suggests it will do a loop close to the coast again and move back inland as a as a tropical depression here. we

impacts already all morning long we see some of those convective bands continuing to work their way onshore, but right now harvey is undergoing a kind of unique cycle here. it is starting to develop a centric eye wall, which means it is close to that eye wall replacement, which means we could see temporary weakening as we head through the next hour or so but after that, it is likely that will intensely, rapidly intensify and continue to work its way toward the gulf coast, as a category 3 storm, as we head through the rest of your friday, expected to make landfall later this evening. so we'll show you here, its exact track, as it continues to track really to the north of corpus christi, is where we are expecting that heaviest impact as a category 3 storm, before it swoops down, back into the gulf of mexico, as a tropical storm early next week. so here's what we're tracking in terms of rainfall, because we've been talking about it all day, flooding will be the primary threat, as we head through the next couple of days. so here are those impacts again. a major impact for wind. this will be a c
