i was an elected sheriff and then prior to that served as chief of police in orlando as well.ow a little bit about law enforcement is what i'm saying. there is no question that here in the american institution of law enforcement there are systemic issues that we have to address. until we're honest about it, until we address those issues, the reason why we sometimes see law enforcement disproportionately assigned to minority areas is because i will say in some cases it demands that but it demands that because of the economic disparities that have existed in communities of color for hundreds of years now. and so we have to get about addressing disparities with access to, in terms of access to capital, in terms of access to quality education, quality housing, and getting decent jobs. and so as a law enforcement officer, i was forced to deal with the hand that i was dealt with but i do believe that the time is now for us to take a look at our law enforcement agencies and look for those opportunities to reform our agencies to ensure that they are both transparent and they have the
