we lost orlando cepeda. can't help reflecting back onto the impressions that those guys made as a kid when you grew up watching them and, you know, you showed those pictures of the elephants and all the things that were happening here when the coliseum opened. reflecting back to those days, if you remember, you know, baseball didn't exist west of the mississippi river before 1958. so the giants and dodgers moved out from new york. all of a sudden, the west coast had baseball. so the bay area had the giants for ten years. the a's were in the american league in kansas city, and the leagues didn't play each other back then. and when the a's came here in 1968, it wasn't a competitive thing. it was all of a sudden, people from the bay area who are baseball fans. now we got to see mickey mantle and al kaline, and you got to see the other league as well. so it was just kind of if you were a kid during those years, you know, when your most formative, when you're collecting baseball cards, all those kinds of things.
