las vegas. nbc news has learned the investigators are looking into whether there is a military connection between the driver of the pickup in new orleans the man inside the tesla truck in las vegas. sources say it's not immediately clear when and where the drivers who both served in the military overlapped during their military service. security footage released by las vegas police shows the moment the truck burst into flames yesterday. that driver died when the truck exploded. seven people near the blast and fire were injured, but not seriously. smoke from the incident could be seen for miles. investigators say the explosion was intentional, but they're not releasing any more detail. tesla ceo and trump adviser elon musk reacted to the news, writing, quote, we have now confirmed the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented cybertruck. it's unrelated to the vehicle itself. at a news conference in las vegas, law enforcement shared video. that explosion the burned out truck and also thanked musk for helping with the investigation. he gave us quite a bit of additional information in regar
