pamela osborne is live at the airport. tell us what you learned. >> vai, here's what i can tell you right now. there were 50 passengers and four crew members onboard american eagle flight 4801. operated by piedmont the flight coming in from richmond international airport. it landed here around 8:15. prior to landing, the pilot reported smoke in the cabin. the crew and passengers were evac waited on the air field after the plane landed. one passenger had to be checked out, but there were no injuryies to report. this happened after another american american eagle flight, this one operated by republican airline communicated to the faa tower that there may be a problem. that plane also landed safely. airport officials tell me the plane taxied to its designated gate under its own power and the 76 passengers and 3 crew members got off safely. for several minutes we know things did come to a standstill. there were no planes that could take off or land here. traffic is moving again at the airport, but keep in mind very significant

"nbc 10's" pamela osborne is live for us in wilmington.e begin with "nbc 10's" lauren maik who is live for us. >> reporter: this is a pretty stunning development that you just mentioned, the kasich and cruz campaign sort of working together. the idea is that cruz would concentrate on indiana, kasich would concentrate on oregon and new mexico and they would stop donald trump from getting the nomination. now kasich was just here at the penn rose diner just about 20 or so minutes ago. we were here as he went in to shake hands with people, take some pictures and do some final campaigning here in pennsylvania before this primary tomorrow. now inside there were supporters of his. there were also volunteers who have come here from all over the country to help him with his campaign. i talked to some of them about what they think about this new arrangement. they told me they like it because they do want an open convention where governor kasich would have a possibility of getting the nomination. here is what john kasich had to say about it himself.

now, let's move on to george osborne's budget. george osborne is always counted as a real tactician, a very political chancellor. how has it all gone so wrong for him? >> well, one of the things that his supporters say is that he is a great strategist and he can think ahead. one of the things his critics say is that sometimes he's got a bit of a tin ear and he doesn't always understand how things will go down in the country. so, things that can look very clever on paper and in treasury sometimes don't go down well in the media and with the wider public. and we've seen that before with the famous pasty tax and the caravan tax and other problems that he's had. and of course, now with his latest budget. what he'd hoped we'd all be talking about, the sugar tax. instead, it turned into a big row about changes to the welfare budget, and of course, the most damaging thing for george osborne was the fact that many of his critics weren't on the opposition benches, they were from his own side, his own mps who were unhappy with the budget. s

nbc 10's pamela osborne is following the investigation. pamela, what can you tell us?ing to trickle in. also i want to step out of way and show you, within the past five minutes or so, a police cruiser pulled up to the front of the school. the officer got out of that patrol car, went inside of the building. this of course is where we know a fight occurred yesterday at the howard high school of technology. it was inside of the girl's bathroom. want to get you to video last night. there was a vigil. students were dismissed early but many of them returned to the school yesterday to remember their classmate, the 16-year-old girl, to show their support for her family. here's what we know. it was about 8:15 yesterday morning when that victim was inside of a bathroom when she was attacked by two other students. now, the victim was so badly injured in the attack she had to be air lifted to the hospital where she died after her injuries. students who know the girl tell us they're hearing the fight was all over a boy. >> to hear that a girl losing her life over a boy, i mean, yo

reporting live i'm pamela osborne, "nbc 10 news." >> pamela, thank you. live team coverage continues now with "nbc 10's" deanna durante at police headquarters. what have you gathered? >> reporter: we do know what is standard in situations where police officers are shot is that the homicide division has the lead in this case. we know that homicide investigators have been up all night here. what we've learned from investigative sources, there were two separate crimes they tell us that led up to the shooting. they say there was a male who was a victim of a robbery or robbery attempt and then there was a woman who was a victim of the car jacking attempt and it's when the officer approached these men that those shots were fired. we do know that one man is in custody, was taken here to police headquarters. it's unclear how much information if any he's giving investigators at this point. we can tell you investigators are looking closely at surveillance video, video very close to the scene of that car jacking scene and investigators right now are on the hunt for

let's get out to pamela osborne live at the steen. bring us up to speed on the status of the fire. >> well, vai, the fire is out right now. i want to show you, it's on the other side of the wooded area is where that building is, and i want to show you something else. firefighters had to drag hose all the way over from this commercial industrial park area, through the wooded area to get to where that fire was blazing urlgier this morning. you're taking a look at some sky force 10 video. it was overhead as flames poured out of that building. this is at the hunter's glen apartment complex. we spoke with a woman off camera who lives in the building. she tells us she was asleep when a maintenance worker knocked on her door, alerted her to the fire. she got out okay. she said the maintenance workers went back in and rescued her cat. as far as she knew, there were no injuries. and based on what we could see, it looks like at least a few of the units there were damaged. i went to speak to someone at the front office. they said they were busy

that's where nbc 10's pamela osborne is live for us this morning.tell us what you've learned. >> reporter: vai, tracy, here's what we know so far. it was just after 2:00 a.m. when neighbors called police. they were concerned about a man sitting inside of that white dodge charger that you see there on the 1600 block of red field street. they were called here by those neighbors. they say they saw a man slumped over inside of that car. they told police that the car had been running for several hours. they thought the man inside may have been asleep or not feeling well. when police arrived to check on him, they discovered 25-year-old victim dead inside of that car. police believe that he was shot inside of that car while he was sitting there. he was shot once in the chest they are also checking surveillance cameras in the area to try to see if they picked up anything at pull. right now, no motive, no description of shooters as we await for that vehicle to be towed away and taken into evidence by police. reporting live in west philadelphia, pamela osborn

nbc 10's pamela osborne is live for us this morning. these traffic troubles could last through the weekend. >> reporter: yeah, vai, they certainly can. you could call today round two of some major delays if you are traveling this way. you can see traffic is pretty light at this hour, but as soon as they get up to that area of the bridge, they're having to slow down there. if it's anything like we saw yesterday, you don't even have to be on the delaware memorial bridge to get tied up. side streets and on ramps leading up to the bridge were gridlocked on the new jersey side heading into delaware as traffic was restricted to one lane. some motorist wes talked to said they were stuck for hours. this morning, only two lanes will be open, and here is why. crews went to make a repair on a vertical suspension, and while they were doing that, they discovered two other ropes were compromised and in need of immediate attention. not the kind of thing you want to put off. >> over 200 cables on each bridge. we're talking about three cables. for us to

pamela osborne is in robbinsville. what's happening with the schools there today? school will be closed for today. but there will be grief counselors available for anyone who needs them. heartbreak is probably the best way to describe how people are feeling. dr. steven mayer was well known and he was very loved. we saw that last night at a vigil where more than 500 people gathered together at foxmore community park. they went with flowers, candle and grief. a huge crowd pulling together hours after learning of dr dr. mayer's death. he laced up his shoes yesterday morning and left his house for a run. he and his dog were less than a mile away from robbinsville high school when dr. mayor, the superintendent for the district, was struck and killed by a 17-year-old student on her way to class for a trip. she stopped right away but it was too late for dr. mayer and his dog. both were killed. >> he made a very big impact since he's been here. everybody loved him. we're all going to miss him. >> i'm speechless. i couldn't believe something so tragic would happen to such a

pamela osborne is live in wilmington. what do we know so far?rter: we know police spent several hours interviewing witnesses and two girls who they believe were a part of that fight. now, students and community members really just devastated by that fight which, according to investigators, happened inside of a girl's bathroom. at the steps of howard high school of technology is where we saw students gather last night. they were there to console one another and to show their support to the family of their 16-year-old classmate. there were a lot of tears, a lot of hugs, a lot of people asking why. here's what we know right now. it was right around 8:15 yesterday morning when the victim, a 16-year-old sophomore student was assaulted by two other girls. the fight happened out of sight in a girl's bathroom. the victim so badly injured that she had to be flown to a hospital where she died of her injuries. the entire school was put on lockdown and not long after that, the school was dismissed. now, investigators and administrators took things from ther

nbc 10's pamela osborne is live on the scene.amela, we're learning that the victim was found shot to death inside a car. help us with the time line. >> vai, it was just after 27:00 this morning when police were called to this location. take a look. you can see the white dodge charger is still there. we're in the 1,600 block of red field street. police were called here by neighbors who were concerned about a man that was slumped over inside of that car, those neighbors told police that the car had been running for several hours. they thought the man inside may have been sleeping but when police arrived to check on him, they discovered the 25-year-old victim was dead. police say he was shot once in the chest and based on the evidence, they recovered, police believe he was sitting inside of the car within he was shot and killed. >> the 25-year-old victim does reside on the block. so homicide detectives, crime scene personnel are processing the scene. several witnesses and family members were transported to homicide. they're being in
