we have seen more than a foot of rain already and since the last hour, in orange and northern osceola countieslando's in orange county, we've had a flash flood warning get issued that will last for the next couple hours because we are expecting additional rains. so far, we've seen anywhere between five and 9 inches of rain around and south of orlando. there's a lot more. it's been on the northern side and heavier precipitation. the southern side, there is dry air that's been working into it. for the most part, we have seen the heavy rain on the northern tier of the storm. but the rain has been incredible. some of the totals that we have seen are now approaching 20 inches. we are closing in on 16 inches and this is where the flash flood warning is for the next couple hours. but that swath of rain is what fell after we saw landfall. this is the last six or ten hours and we had landfall shortly after 3:00 p.m. this afternoon. the same location where hurricane charley made landfall back in 2004, interesting to know. but where the storm surge was and it's what's most concerning, darkness has fallen

let's bring in osceola county emergency director bill linton. thanks for joining us. you're in the early stages of assessing the extent of damage and flooding throughout the county. how bad is it from what you understand? and tell us what you're seeing now. >> good evening, jake. it's been historical. it's been a worst case scenario for us here in osceola county. we're projecting the last several days 10 to 15 inches of rain. weerm closely approaching that 14-inch mark today. but we've had areas of kissimmee, parts of our unincorporated area flood that we've never seen before. the kissimmee video that you showed was one of our hospitals here, osceola regional, which is our trauma 2 level center, was surrounded by water this morning. rescuers could not make entry. some of that area has receded now, which is good. the ambulances have retained service there now. we actually had another hospital that was taking on water in the emergency room this morning too. so we're fortunate but we've been doing a lot of rescues in subdivisions and both our county and city of kissimmee
