outreach. obviously first all of the outreach in connection with the eir was done two years ago. they held a meeting on february 28 with the representatives of the marina community association, golden gate valley neighborhood association and other groups. they had a meeting on march 12 which i attended, and seem to address concerns raised at that time. they have distributed -- this is my older presentation. they distributed letters back in march and we received one comment which we responded to and the discussions with the st. francis are just about finalized. that is my presentation. actually i want to cover one other thing. there have been comments submitted about the repairs to little marina green that went to the commission and i wanted to explain my understanding what happened there. first marina green is a difficult surface to maintain grass. it is a clay based and landfill base. it doesn't allow water to percolate. in case of heavy rain we do get large poolings of water and once it hits the saturation points the water pools at marina green. when the pictures were taken --

and that's what the whole hook is, getting out and doing the outreach to the kids. so, i mean, yes, prevention, that's the tack we took and it was a good deal because these guys, bill, this is not their main thing. the main thing is being a leader and presenting this message but at the end of our presentation to the fte, at the end of the semester when we complete something, they get a scholarship at the end. so that money goes back into the community. the kids spend it in school or out in the community so it just revolves. so it's a win-win for us. the money gets paid to these guys and they put it back in the community and when they walk around and some of the kids, all the kids are local, they will see the kids at burger king, hey, i saw you guys. so these guys are real in the community. >> it's also for us that a lot of these people here have done this many times. i know it's not for the money because it's not that much. they get about $350, something like that, we measure it by the hours they show up, if they did a rehearsal or a performance, obviously they're n

we all struggle with outreach. the planning department and mta, this is something that just exist because not everyone receives e-mails and takes text message. i certainly, seniors in the community not necessarily your particular demographic but seniors are still not texting as probably the most of us are in this room. so i think the best take away is we want this to work in our community. we want to represent people of color and women that achieve do see or that you do not see in the tech industry. this is the beginning, the beginning of it. i don't want you to feel that we are beating you up. this is a six month program that is going to be developed out in the next several years. the feedback is for all of you. the other partners and even rhonda as a director what we are trying to do that we as a city are committed. we want it to be successful. we have this big picture. like supervisor breed mentioned in the comment that we are the pipeline for the next generation. so what that looks like is providing educational

we hope to go with the program outreach with the techsf outreach and we know many of our colleagues have been doing this kind of relationship building and i know this grant is a way for all our colleagues to come together and share their best practices. i talked a little bit about the youth pathway, the other thing i want to mention as far as the employer pathway and jobs and connections. we have 85 percent placed and currently employed and many of the skills we teacher videography, film production and web design and often the jobs out there are freelance jobs and that's something to keep in mine. sometimes the first stepping stone is finding your freelancer. bay tech is located in the industrial center. there are 300 other businesses there. part of the planning and research with did that led up to this internship program even before techsf was to actually survey the local businesses that are there. so you have start up people who started who is working in another start up in our building. we found that many of the local businesses want to work with our interns. as a matter of fact we ha

i was doing more of the community outreach. i was sharing information with him over the phone and also since he doesn't have a computer you have to go a little bit further. one of his questions was capacity issue which is over a hundred, so he wanted to know the extent because technically it's a full service restaurant, but because the space has 2 rather large private dining areas, that composed quite a bit of the space. this will a restaurant and continue to be a restaurant. at the same time we are looking at opportunities to work with some of the non-profits looking for venues like this and especially the fact that it has a brisk business during the day monday through friday because where it's situated and saturday and sunday it's pretty slow. so this is a perfect opportunity to have some corporate events and non-profit events and provide a home for those venues. i think over all it has a lot of potential and this applicant would like to actualized that potential. >> thank you, seeing no further comment. matters with the comm

some of my feedback on how we can do deeper outreach. just sitting here and thinking about what bay vac does, i think maybe we can talk about how bay vac can actually train our cbo's either the staff members or youth leaders spending time in the program to run classes or if they can be the one teaching classes. the one thing that is a barrier if the instructors themselves don't look like you or aren't from the neighborhoods that they are from. i think being to have an instructor that went from the high school and they stand up here. i know the street you fwru up in. i went to the schools. i think that already takes away one barrier i feel. i think part of the -- i don't want to call it intimidation but feeling it's not your place, your space in not seeing those folks. i think we have amazing organizations who is staff grew up in the neighborhoods that maybe can go to a different place and actually help one the programs from cyc or mow magic. just a couple ideas out there. they already know the youth and they will drive the young people t
