but also, senator graham said that he was trying to help zelenskyy before he went to the oval office hing him. what to say, what not to say. were you part of those conversations? >> well, i can't speak to every conversation that senator graham had, but yes, i met with president zelenskyy that morning and president zelenskyy was ready to sign that minerals agreement, no matter how insufficient it was. but he had an obligation to have a conversation with the president of the united states about the disaster that would be wrought for ukraine if they signed an agreement that didn't have zelenskyy at the table and trusted vladimir putin. vladimir putin is not to be trusted. and so zelenskyy had an obligation to raise that issue. and vance seized on that moment to start a litany of russia based talking points about how weak the ukrainian army was, about how corrupt the nation is. the back half of that meeting ended up just being the kremlin, literally driving the message of the white house. it is a sad day in america when we are getting closer and closer to russia. a brutal dictatorship, an

reporter: we know that zelenskyy and the ukraine antiwar ticket to a separate room and the trump team stayed in the oval officeat was happening. at that point, zelenskyy appears to have been trying to smooth things over, there are suggestions he was trying to kind of wreath at after what was obviously a very hostile exchange. but the trump team felt at that point are disrespected. in particular they seem to have taken objection to him shrugging and perhaps rolling his eyes during their bilateral meeting. at that point once we know he was asked to leave. marco rubio and mike waltz, the national security advisor, advised that president trump consider the meeting over, essentially and that is when they left. the deal was not signed. they were supposed to have lunch. the food for that lunch for example, was left lying there. it was just a very drastic turn of events and at that point it seems there was no turning it around for the ukrainian side. katrina: in terms of zelenskyy's movements now, he mentioned a number of congress, he was supposed to have a number of engagements this evening. what do we know of those?

that meeting with zelenskyy in the oval office was ostensibly aimed at shoring up a critical minerals deal between the u.s. and ukraine. zelenskyy was expected to press the u.s. on security assurances for a potential peace deal. of course, instead, a breakdown in diplomacy. trump and vance berating zelenskyy for not expressing enough gratitude to the u.s. and after the press departed, those two sides retreated to separate rooms in the west wing, where trump's advisors encouraged him to end the talks altogether. trump then dispatched his national security advisor, mike wallace, to tell the ukrainians they were no longer welcome. but vance's harsh words or excuse me, waltz's harsh words continued. >> he's clearly solely focused on believing he needs to fact check and correct every nuance. you know, it's like a it's like a, you know, a ex-girlfriend that wants to argue, you know, everything that you said nine years ago rather than moving the relationship forward. >> trump now claims, victor, that zelenskyy doesn't want to make peace, an assertion that, of course, zelenskyy has refuted. b
