on the issue of reining in overregulation. and getting congress to take a look at the tens of thousands of pages of regulations that come out so regularly from bureaucrats that never see or catch the eye of elected officials. it's a pretty simple bill. it took hours and hours to go through that because there were so many proposed amendments. and each amendment that gets made has a chance for the proponent to argue for at least five minutes in favor of his amendment and then under the rules any member of the committee can spend up to five minutes on each amendment. and it's not a pretty process. it's not pleasant to sit through. but we get better bills when we go through that process. then it comes to the rules committee. i prefer if the rules committee is really going to allow fully open debate, we have an open amendment process. it's not pretty either. but it gives people across america a chance to see who is advocating for what amendment, what language, and you have had all this time from the subcommittee to the committee to
