what is next for owen labrie?well, his sentencing is set for october 29th, he is out on $15,000 bail. he has a curfew between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. that he has to follow. he has to check in with law enforcement officers routinely. another note, he will have to register as a sex offender. that title will follow him for life. he can appeal it after 15 years, but again, that appeal process is difficult. his attorney also said this is something that will follow him forever. he had plans to go to harvard after high school and obviously his plans may have to change after this, john. >> all right, boras sanchez, thank you so much. >>> i want to bring in cnn legal anl sonny hostin, she specialized in sex crimes. sonny, i should give you credit, this is exactly what you said would happen right here. and the jury's findings here, they seem to come down in a specific way. they seem to say, they believe labrie's story that, that, well they didn't buy the story that they never had sex. they essentially said yes, there was se

they did not believe owen labrie, that no sex had happened, and they did not fully believe her that iti get it. so by splitting the baby, the worst thing labrie has to worry about is the one felony, which requires him to register as a sex offender. that's the one charge that the defense is arguing against. i predict the judge will let labrie stay out on an appeal bond, which means even after you're convicted, you can stay out of jail until that felony is appealed. >> okay, let's get more into the sentencing. we just heard gio say there's no minimum -- there is a maximum of 11 years, but because of a nuance in new hampshire, the judge is going to determine the sentencing so could labrie walk off without doing prison time? >> absolutely, and if you look into judge smuckler's background he's known as an independent thinker, which can be good and bad. i think it's very possible that labrie could walk free on straight probation. most of these offenses, four of the five that he's been convicted on, are misdemeanors, which is a max of 12 months but easily probatable. there's just only one tha

anna werner has more. >> you say madame foreperson that the defendant owen labrie is guilty? >> yes. >> a stunned owen labrie began to cry as the first guilty verdict was read as more followed he sobbed and bent over the defense table. the jury had acquitted him of more serious felony rape charges, but found he did have sex with an underage girl at the elite st. paul's boarding school. the 16-year-old testified last week. >> i was raped. i was violated in so many ways. >> labrie denied it saying the two had physical contact but he stopped himself from going further. >> i thought to myself maybe we shouldn't do this. >> the trial sheds light on what some called a secret culture of sex traditions at the elite prep school where upper classmen engaged in what they call the senior salute. they would meet up with younger female students sometimes for sex. on friday the girl's family said the school had failed them, that st. paul's school allowed and fostered a toxic culture that left their daughter and other students at risk for sexual violence. the lead prosecutor said the decisio
