p.m. last night eastern time. shots reported fired on the mit campus. 10 minutes later at about 10:30 p.m., a campus police officer found dead in his car. we now know that that officer was 26 -year-old sean collier. had been a member of the mit police force since january of last year. at about that same time, police get reports of an armed carjacking by two men. 30 minutes later, 11 p.m. eastern, the carjacking victim was let go unharmed. less than an hour later, police corner the suspects. then at 12:51 a.m., reports of gunshots. take a look at what it looked like as the swat teams moved in. now listen as the shootout is caught on amateur video. >> there is explosions and gunfire going on down the street. >> megyn: less than 10 minutes later just before 1 a.m., police report explosives have been detonated. by 1:25 a.m. there are reports that a suspect is in custody. we now know that suspect was the older brother. he died of numerous gunshot wounds. that's what they're saying now shortly after the report came in. a

p.m. eastern while the system is being repaired.d the ground stop did not impact arrivals. passengers who want to change their reservations will not be charged the airline says. with very little fanfare, lawmakers took the first step on a long road toward immigration reform. a bipartisan group of senators unveiled a bill which links the pathway to citizenship with border security. under the legislation, most undocumented immigrants would have to wait a decade or more for full citizenship but those without criminal backgrounds would get some form of legal status. in the meantime the federal government would pump billions into building new fences and adding extra security at the border. you've seen the photos, a woman praying to god, strangers whispering to victims to hold on, and police officers jumping barricades to help. they're the images you cannot get out of your head. we'll talk to the man who captured these photographs coming up next. the first technology of its kind... mom and dad, i have great news. is now providing answers

p.m. eastern today. >> an issue to keep watching for sure. >>> all right. now in india, a terrible story. rescue crews are still searching for survivors who might be trapped in the rubble of a building collapse. this is in mumbai. >> at least 46 people were killed, 70 others injured. but rescuers have pulled some people out alive from what is left of that building. i understand now children have been pulled out as well. >> that's right, suzanne. it's been more than 24 hours since the eight-story building collapsed in the outskirts of india's financial capital mumbai. rescuers are still digging through the rubble trying to find survivors. right now authorities say as you mentioned 46 people have died. 17 of them are children. and more than 70 others have been injured. now, authorities say they still don't know what caused that collapse, but they believe shotty construction is the main reason. this particular building was built in just about three months time. it was illegal. it was built on forestland. and unfortunately this kind of illegal construction is r

p.m. eastern.those trades showed a fluctuation of more than 60% of what they were before the flash crash. what on earth happened today? the 2010 flash crash. what on earth did happen that day? now we know. there's lots of initial speculation it was a fat finger problem. that human error caused the big dramatic plunge. maybe somebody added an extra couple zeros to an order or something. that didn't end up being true. the securities and exchange commission spent months looking into what happened and issued a report that showed a perfect storm of conditions. it was an unusually turbulent day already for the markets driven mostly by stuff going on in europe. there was one really big trade, on purpose, legitimate trade that added to the volatility. structurally they said the quick trade nature of the markets essentially massively augmented the damage that was caused by the other things coinciding so for that reason to the extent that is a reason we got the 2010 flash crash in may of that year and all of
