we just go got an update from an oakland fire battalion chief who says around 2:00 p.m. investigators will go down physically down into the diamond canyon looking for any clues into how and possibly who started these fires yesterday. oakland fire officials say this is the work of an arsonist. about 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., a crew of four investigators will be going back in the canyon. fire officials want to see if someone is starting these fires going back at the same time of day 0 could provide -- could provide clues as to who it is. while they say there is a homeless encampment down there, they say there's no evidence of that today. winds were down and that contributed to firefighters putting the fire out. >> the two fires were simultaneous but they were half a mile apart. we had calm winds so the likelihood of an ember flying from one area to another was very minimal. as far as the top of the mountain, that was almost impossible for an ember to get there. >> reporter: fire crews have been out patrolling the area. they will continue to do so into the evening. for oakland
