this happened on the 5800 block of thomas avenue in southwest philadelphia at 90:00 p.m. this is the same neighborhood oh has lived since the 60s. he was getting out of the car getting bags out of the trunk near the home when a man approached him and started talking to him. at first he didn't know what he was saying, he briefly engaged him in conversation that's when the police say the man pulled out a knife and demanded he hand over his keys, he stabbed him on the left side of his body and took off. investigators believe it was a crime of opportunity that likely the suspect didn't know that the person he attacked was a city council member. oh is a veteran he has a wife and four children. he was first elected is to city council in 2011 and re-elected in 2015. some of his colleagues and staff members have stopped by to see him and check on how he was doing. the fire commissioner was here, as well as city council president darrell clark. >> we'll keep saying our prayers and make sure the family is okay. david is a tough guy, he'll be ready to talk about legislation on the p
