just issues on pacifica with the latest on conditions out there. see if you're you have your umbrella out. tiffany. >> yes, get ready for another rainy day has been raining here. pacifica for the past hours. so i brought out umbrellas to help say dry this morning. but i'm having to grip is pretty hard as well because it is windy at the same time. so take it a look at the ocean right behind as the surf has been high and because of that, there has been a high surf advisory that has been issued and that goes into effect in a few more hours at 10 o'clock this morning. but it's already peaking quite high. the national weather service says this advisory will last until 04:00pm sunday, but they say the season will quickly build again next week. so the threat for hazardous beach in marine conditions will continue, especially for west facing beaches. so we are supposed to get moderate rain and gusty winds with this storm. winds could gust up to 30 to 40 miles per hour with even stronger winds here near the coast down trees and power outages are likely with

robert ray in the middle of things in pacifica, california, you know, they once sang a song it never rains in southern california, this proves that to be wrong, it's raining all over the state. what's it like where you are now? >> john, indeed it is. pacifica, 15 miles to the south of san francisco got some heavy bands coming in here, big time winds, between 30 and 40 miles an hour sustained up to 50 on the gusts and you see the waves behind me. a high surf advisory, up to 30 feet is expected in some areas as this continues. also the winds as i said, up to 50 mile an hour gusts. flash flood watches in play here in the bay area, and that's a big concern as you are looking at this live imagery of the rain and the waves here. take a look if you can at some of this video from earlier as waves were crashing into the pier here in pacifica, unbelievable, big time breakers. even had a rainbow earlier, now one of the biggest concerns, unfortunately, is the fact that this tropical moisture off the pacific, the atmospheric river, what it could cause is spin-up tornadoes in the central valley, s

. >>> back to our first alert weather, a live look at the pacifica pier.he waves are just hitting and coming ashore. let's check back with meteorologist jessica burch. it's pretty but that does a lot of damage. >> absolutely. it is a first alert weather day for a variety of reasons. national weather service has advised us about a wind advisory, had that flood watch for the next two days. this paints a perfect picture as to what's going on. we see light rain from offshore. see this yellow? there is isolated heavier rain at times. if you do get hit with one of those, localized flooding is a concern. we are seeing it kick up along the peninsula near the pacifica and half moon bay. near ocean beach we will see it kick up within the next two to three hours especially along the peninsula moving to the east bay. we watch the storm from offshore with gusty conditions too. we are under the wind advisory but we can see wind speeds 40 to 50 miles per hour into the afternoon. that will linger into the overnight hours tonight as well as the storm. we see it continuing

the usually crowded beaches in pacifica have been largely empty over the holiday weekend.ther. waves as high as 30ft have been crashing ashore here for the past few days. those big waves have attracted some surfers, but most people have been staying away from the ocean because of the dangerous conditions. one man from pacifica found himself alone while taking his two dogs out for a daily walk at the beach on saturday. >> i think they prefer it when there's more people out here. i like it better when it's raining because it's empty out here and we have the whole beach to ourselves. so it's better for me, but for them probably not as good. >> quiet holiday weekend at pacifica beaches comes despite city's decision to partially reopen one of the city's biggest attractions, a large portion of the pacific appear reopened on valentine's day after being closed for nearly six weeks due to the storm damage, but the pier has since been closed once again because of our weekend storms. >> the point reyes national seashore also announced that there will be some closures as a precaution

in fact, power just came back on at this intersection. >> i'm sara stinson reporting in pacifica kron thank you, sarah. well, in the east bay, thousands are without power after this power pole cracked in half monday night, right along and make sure valley road and homestead avenue out in walnut creek. it sent wires crashinn to the ground. obviously that disrupt electricity. 2 of those power lines actually snapped pg. e crews were out there all day yesterday making repairs. and we now know that a 45 year-old man died sunday when a tree toppled onto his home out in boulder creek. investigators identified him as robert bernard, the 3rd, the santa cruz county sheriff's office says the tree crashed into he's one story home on bear creek road just off highway 9. another person was also inside that house. but that person was able to get out. a man was shot and killed sunday morning in vallejo. officers were called to the area where it happened. by the way and melody lane near the north gate park. >> and that is when they found the victim with at least one gunshot wound. he was pronounced dea

it's extra dark in areas of pacifica. other still without power, including at this intersection. >> of picky in skyline boulevard. you can see the traffic lights are out. so drivers have to act like this is a 4 way stop. it's really been a rough 24 hours for people without power in this part of san mateo county, hundreds of thousands of people in the bay area are starting the week off in the dark weekend. storm damaged hundreds of power poles and transformers says. >> thus far, the 3rd biggest single-day storm and pg history. so it's a really, really significant and large impactful storm about 24 hours into the outage. some pg e customers got the update. they were hoping for. attacks from the utility company saying power's been restored, but others got bad news. and i just got a message is going to be out 11 tomorrow. >> i would be 3 days, frustrated are very frustrated with pg and e because it was supposed to be turned on today by 4 o'clock. >> it's not power was still on at the are shopping center in pacifica. sos packe

scattered showers around edgemoor back into pacifica, into south san francisco. boy, it was pouring in the south bay. now again, a random shower around san jose. but look at again all this is traverse ing to the east and lifting to the north. and that's why the east bay is under the gun with the heaviest precipitation. we're now picking up up to a quarter of an inch of rain outside of antioch. if it was to sit over that area in one hour. and then we're looking at danville, san ramon, the six 8580 corridor that is very messy for the evening commute. and this is why the national weather service has said to watch all this activity, because even though it is passing through the bay area, we still have that flash flood watch in effect for the entire bay area, and that is until tomorrow. meanwhile, we have a flood advisory for marin and sonoma counties, and now coming into the mix, the santa cruz mountains is in fact the entire county because we do have some minor flooding and the potential for landslides and also mudslides. i do have some good news, and i'll come alon

highway one pacifica and you can see it's moving over to 280.re so it has been kind of wet out there by the airport, the slug of moisture offshore. but it is still hours away. and we have the wetrillionoadways and a few scattered showers before they become a little bit isolated. a few hour window before it intensifies after 7:00 again tonight. and things really get going. our flood watch from 4:00 tonight through 10:00 on monday. the entire bay area to our wind advisory, 10:00 tonight through 10:00 pm on sunday. the entire bay area, except along the coast. the purple is a high wind warning for the san mateo coast, the santa cruz mountains, coastal north bay. we could see winds over 60 miles an hour. and now a high surf advisory from 4:00 on sunday to 4:00 on monday, 20 to 25 foot waves could be as high as 35ft down by the big sur coast. and as we go through the next few hours today, not a whole lot going on. i wish i could say that because and this afternoon. but boy, things are going to pick up and we're going to talk about rain totals and wind

pacifica pillar point, half moon bay yet woodside's at 40 atherton, menlo park 41.rd los altos 43. foster city and also san carlos and there it is. see how that works? east southeast breeze, especially up in the hills. that'll translate into some pretty warm temps here from this low, which is also funneling in some moisture. so we'll have a lot of high clouds coming in today. but warmer temps are on the way today. and probably i think we peak it out tomorrow with some low 70s. so high clouds warmer, a little bit of patchy fog north but not much more sun and warmer near 70 on some of those temps. but change starts sunday with increasing clouds. i think we get some light rain on monday. all eyes and focus will be on next week as some cold systems come down from north. could paint some pretty low snow levels again. it's a week away, but that's what the forecast models are advertising and it makes sense. the p and a the pacific north american oscillation or telecom action if you will, has done as deep as negative. dive in about 5 or 6 months. that's usually a sign that

pacifica, 2 inches of rain. oakland hills, 2 inches of rain. about 1 inch of total rainfall from yesterday evening. we are going to be in this unsettled pattern as we head into the first half of the weekend and that next storm system will move in. this will send another atmospheric river toward the coast but exactly where is the factor that we are going to be pinning down over the next 72 hours. let's talk about the lingering showers on first alert doppler. we have a heavier downpour just to the south of downtown santa rosa. more showers making their way from marin county to napa county. a little bit of a dry break in the moment. more rain moving out of the santa clara valley into the higher elevations east of san jose. we have seen a few cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. this is the pattern we can expect for the next few days. a couple of thunderstorms here and there. it is going to be hard to get anything done because as soon as the sun breaks through, another batch of showers will be moving through. we will see that to evolve into early sat
