there are significantly more preventable hospitalizations and er visits for black and pacific islander communities. i know i'm brushing over the points quickly, the points serve as examples to discuss our membership. finally as we localize the data to our membership, one measure used to capture social health factors is the area depravation index, a 0-10 score describing the disadvantage for an area. 10 being the most and 1 being the least. through analyzing our own data, we have mapped that we have at least 17,000 hhs members living in areas of depravation score five or greater. these members are more likely to have higher rates of chronic condition, increased utilization of health services and lower life expectancy. using index score like area depravation is just the beginning to scratch the surface for what social needs are relative to our membership. a key of next steps some guiding questions is how we can work with the health plan, city and vender partners to identify and address and ask how we already interact due to the work of various divisions. examples include member services,
