up in the pacific northwest. a ton of water up there. this is a very productive rainfall pattern for anybody who gets it. see the zonal flow, how everything is coming from thousands of miles out in the pacific. just like a fire hose. this pattern, we can get 3, or 4, or 5 inches of rain from it. alas, it's too far north. we're in the ridge of high pressure, which is going to set us up with warm weather. we'll see low 80s toward the end of the week. right now, a little bit of fog along the coast. there will be patchy fog in the morning hours. that fog is going to go away, because the winds are going to start. now they're going basically onshore. west and southwest at 5 here. that's an onshore wind. you see the northwest wind up here at santa rosa. pretty soon, all the arrows are going to look more like this, or more northerly. a warmer direction. typically, we'd be worried about fire danger. a few east winds here, so it is starting to click a little bit. we're going to notice the temperature start to increase with that offshore wind. fire

we got rain up in the pacific northwest. but, off of the pacific, high pressure reasserts itself and things will begin to warm up as the jets stay north of the bay will be there. on the future cast, there are a few high clouds over the bay area tomorrow. high clouds carry moisture only in the form of ice crystals, that does us no good at all. mostly sunny skies. that is what we expect for things to warm up a little bit for monday and testimony -- monday morning and it will be near 80 degrees, dry,the weekend. dry, overnight lows, clear skies, the heat, regenerated during the day, it goes back up into space. as a result the temperatures cool down a little more. to 45 degrees in santa rose a. 47 near napa. 48 degrees in livermore down to 49 in concord tonight and in san francisco. 54. so, we are heading into that chilly part of autumn for overnight lows, forecasted highs, tomorrow, close to average in san francisco, concord, san jose. oakland, warmer than average. down in the south bay, we have numbers that will be near 70 degr

pacific northwest very interesting forecast. of course, the rockies have the peak cold of the winter, maybe one of the coldest air masses of the winter. right now we're at minus 19 air temperature in casper. the windchill makes it feel much worse than that, at negative 29. at one point negative 39 last night. that's a little better. ten different states have negative windchills. we're down to one in spokane as cold air seeps into areas of oregon and washington state. this is setting the stage for an interesting event that will occur about this time tomorrow. then it will be sometime around thursday afternoon it will change over to rain. the cold air is moving in. now we have the storm that's off the coast. we've got the cold air in place. then we've got warm air that's going to overrun it. we already have winter storm warnings in effect for a good chunk of the southern third and southern two-thirds, i should say, of oregon. much snow are we expecting? mostly from portland eastward. pendleton could get nailed by this. we or also

over in the mountains, dry conditions in the rockies and wet in the pacific northwest. here's a look at the forecast for europe. we're seeing high pressure controlling the eastern side of the continent. you can see the spin associated with this low. that is moving on shore bringing plenty of rainfall for the western side of the continent. also expecting another low to bring snow showers into the northern portions of finland, sweden and norway. wet for paris and back toward the east, dry and sunny conditions. we're keeping an eye on this typhoon as it continues to get closer and closer to japan. i don't think it's going to directly impact the main island, but it's going to effect the islands as we go into thursday. i still think it's going to be a very strong typhoon. out towards sea as we go into the weekend. for those of us in tokyo, i think we're going to see increased cloud cover for wednesday. the high is going to prove the rain from really coming until thursday. that's when it's going to be quite wet. high pressure controlling the eastern side of china. air quality
