this is due to the tail end of the cold front heading toward the pacific northwest. and that's what is sweeping across the islands as we speak. the clash of the two air masses are creating wet weather, which is not so uncommon for the wettest month of the year. and snow in the higher elevations, not so unusual as well. but 30 centimeters of snowfall combined with the gusty conditions, that's quite a rare site. it could be life-threatening for the hikers who are going to try to be going up to the summit. and also the hazardous conditions for the drivers as well. and you are going to be seeing more snowfall on your christmas eve, and also in honolulu, a little bit of that rainfall. it will be tapering off for your christmas day, though. and looking quite favorable, too. this is the pineapple express that we always have been talking about through this time of the year. it is flowing all that moisture and the atmospheric river to the pacific northwest. that's why it's creating that coastal flooding rainfall as well as widespread snowfall across the cascades, the sierras

if you head to the pacific northwest, you could see delays as we push into saturday and also even into sunday. that same system will push into montana and then we will see the showers start to move offshore near atlanta. the northeast, the entire northeast is dry throughout saturday and sunday. monday is a different story. that's when we will see showers moving back into our forecast. that will linger until tuesday and into wednesday. our average for this time of year, 44. 42 will be the high today, and look at what happens on saturday. we drop even more down to 40. our future temperatures shows' we head out to lunch, close to 40 degrees for philadelphia. 41 in trenton and low 40s in atlantic city. by the time you head home from work, dropping down into the mid 30s. it's going to be a cold night ahead for you. your christmas eve forecast shows we will see warmer conditions. winter starts on sunday. for christmas eve, 55 and rainy, mild conditions. as we head into christmas day, our temperatures drop back down into the low 40s. a cold front will drop us and we will see windy conditions.

satellite and radar, an area of low pressure and cold front is pushing rain into the pacific northwest. we're on the tail end of the moisture. the high pressure off the coast keeping the rain to the north. the high pressure will bring us the drier weather but the proximity between these two opposing forces are causing a high surf. see have high surf advisory with occasional breakers over 25 feet, creating hazardous conditions along the beached and dangerous rip currents in the next couple of hours. here's the scattered showers around by 7:00. have to keep light rain in the forecast tonight. by 11:00 p.m., light showers out there. and sunday morning, but watch what happens sunday afternoon as high pressure builds in. clouds start to breck apart, especially inland around the bay. a good deal of sunshine by sunday afternoon. overnight lows will stay in the 50s with the cloud cover overhead. isolated shower and patchy fog developing and then tomorrow, an early morning sprinkle giving way to afternoon sunshine. 63 in san francisco, 61, richmond. 63, fremont. 63, san jose. the accuweather se

and the steady rains now in california, even showers trying to work their way up through the pacific northwest here. as far as the heaviest rains go, again, the bay, southward, if you go throughout the morning, the san francisco area, you can see now it is down sweeping into the san jose, and streams right up interstate i-80 by sacramento too. a good soaking rain, some soil is a little loose and stuff. minor concern. and the winds will be 30 to 40 at most in the mountains. not like there is no impact from the storm system. most of them are just going to be new -- stuff you have to deal with as far as driving and maybe some airport delays. and that's probably about the worst of it. by this evening, breaks up a little bit more, showery type weather, san luis obispo southward. then around 2:00, this will be coming in tuesday night into the bay and then sweep into the south. snow levels lower with this next one. two storms in two up the snow pack too so ski resorts won't be complaining before the holidays. two storms in two days and then another one towards the end of the week. >> we'll be watchin
