as we look at what's been happening here, the approach of this incoming storm system for the pacific northwest will bring us some little bit more fog building near the coast. as we go into tomorrow as well as friday we're going to see more of a westerly wind as the storm system passes to the north, and we know we also have a lot of fires burning for our neighbors to the north as well. we've seen them in oregon as well. as we go into the end of the week that storm system will bring them some rain. it will bring us some higher humidity as well as a breezy wind. it will come in off the ocean and help improve our air quality. some of those scattered showers will start to move in as we head towards thursday and friday and we're going to have a significant cooldown here in the bay area. so some really good news all around in the forecast as we look at upper 80s today for our inland areas. by friday we're in the upper 70s, only reaching 77 degrees. the weekend starts out really nice and comfortable but it will start to heat up again by the end of the weekend. i think by sunday it's possible as that h

christina: hopefully the rain will help out in the pacific northwest.alifornia is another hot and dry day. i'm at the command post for the bobcat fire that's burning northeast of los angeles. this fire has exploded in size since last weekend and now burning more than 91,000 acres. now this is just one of dozens of fires burning out west hitting oregon, washington and california and bobcat has been ripping through the national forest and split 3 ways yesterday advancing north toward more communities and forcing more evacuations. it's also threatening historic mount wilson observatory. >> it's a historical landmark, communications and all the critical infrastructure that not only la relies on but much a lot of the local cities, communities and even the u.s. there's a lot of risk up here. christina: the fires have killed at least 35 people. yesterday the u.s. force honored the firefighter who died battling the el dorado fire in san bernardino forest. the circumstances of the death has not been released. the fire started two weeks from a device at gender re

this is going to bring some rain to the pacific northwest. temperatures off tomorrow, and had is what we have to thank for the smoke moving off towards the east. it's been so slow-moving that it's helped to give us just about three days of this better air. off towards the south we have some tropical moisture. it's leftover remnants of what was once depression corinna. it's pushing in some humidity, slight chance of some lightning and also the possibility of some storms for the central valley right over to yosemite. now, any kind of rainfall would help yosemite and that horrible air quality. you can see at 7:30 in the morning, we have that fog from the north bay to the south bay with some spotty drizzle to start and those storms over the sierra. as we head through the afternoon, we'll get some sunshine here but notice how close that rainfall is here to gilroy and then of course over yosemite. so we'll have a close eye on that radar for you tomorrow. right now our chances are slim, but it is just so extremely close. we'll keep that chance of so
