there is an area of high pressure, diverting everything up to our north into the pacific northwest. we have high clouds above, but down below is the fog. visibility is down to half a mile in santa rosa. something you have to watch out for if you are commuting. higher clouds will thin out tomorrow morning. left with fog along the coastline but also along the delta. we have the summertime and wintertime fog combining. by the afternoon hours, most of you will be seeing the sun. there will be some patches of fog. temperatures in the 40's and 50's. it does not feel so much like winter because we expect it to be colder but not tonight. a blanket of fog. moderate air-quality the next three days. if you want to get outside, you are good to go. you can see the layer of gray as we look toward san francisco. foggy areas for the morning commute. today's highs only in the mid-50's to low 60's unless you were out towards fairfield, then you got up to about 64. the dry pattern continues through early next week. the morning temperatures will be in the 30's and 40's. fog is what you need to give you

now the pacific northwest, not the case. they got an atmospheric river. that's this hammering a pretty good so up in alaska. parts of british columbia into seattle. they're they're seeing all sorts of historical rainfall and snowfall totals and temperature patterns . so as you look live outside that san jose some sun there for awhile. days are getting longer . it doesn't really feel like it. probably maybe it does to you, but in fact, the clouds kind of right this time of year gets little cloudier, so there's nothing but days are getting a little bit longer each day as we go towards the equinox here. and as you look, you can see that atmospheric river that i was talking about coming out from near the date line up and over and then right into here and not just there, but up until gulf of alaska as well. they're having major storms. major precipitation. it's just been one of those periods where we've seen whether it be historic rain or snow or wind or rain here or snow. there we're seeing all sorts of just kind of anomalous behavior and the weather this yea

the storm track has been pushed further to the north so all of the rain is being aimed at the pacific northwest. heavy rain around seattle. dry weather for the bay area let's take a look at future cast. clouds further up in the atmosphere passing through. cloud cover in the forecast wednesday into thursday. i think thursday will be the greatest day but even then some sunshine will pay through. we have the radar simulation turned on without any measurable rain it also means can't watch any of the hayes out of the atmosphere. you may have heard this much. moderator quality for most of the bay area. moderate across the board on wednesday. a wind shift on thursday to go along with the cloud cover. the quality will improve a little bit and back into the moderate category friday. the good news is it doesn't look like it will be dramatically worse. the bad news is we will have a hard time getting rid of the tan smudge on the horizon for the next several days. temperatures have been dropping. down to 40 already in livermore. still holding onto 52 in san francisco. temperatures will continue backing dow

they are all getting pulled back up into the pacific northwest and away from us. so we are missing out on the rain opportunities because the storm track is being redirected into the pacific northwest. and a closer inspection on monday shows us we start out with a few clouds but even at that, by the time we get past sunrise, thus the 7:00 hour, we'll be looking at clear skies. we don't have a significant impact in terms of clouds for the next system. that brings us to how likely is it are we going to see rain in the next week? what about beyond next week? there's two ways to look at that. this is the six to 10 day outlook for precipitation and not just preservation but the confidence of precipitation will either be above average or below average. it's no surprise here over what we just saw, we are shaded in the deeper colors of tan and brown. the further you get into those colors the higher degree the confidence is that percentage is going to be below average. let's switch this now. we are going to go from 6-10 and look at 8-14 and watch the map change. like a pote
