the united states government has subsidized the central pacific and union pacific railroad in order to carry freight across the united states. so that it will raise its rates to carrying freight across the united states more expensive. that is the business model of the central pacific and southern andfic in the 1870's 1880's. this doesn't come into the major stories of trafficking in 19th-century california. that's where the book of the traffic comes out. many things come in because of sales. -- do not putt up wheat on the shirts -- these ships. because of its control with san francisco. pretty much what the southern pacific does until the 1890's is take is in california, bring them to san francisco, put them on ships, take is coming off of ships and distributed throughout california. of traffic moving into california, and it will move transcontinental. these are the routes by which most of the goods move. it's a blank there. where able of goods will move in the 1870's, 1880's. there's another way showing the distances. they are a monopoly because they are a monopoly working out of san
