el granada, half moon bay, pacifica. upper 35 is really backed up all the way down to the bottom of the hill. you can see cars once they get to higher ground are pulling over to the side of the road. obviously it's safe there. but, you know, chp is on scene providing traffic control because of the connecticut con. we are seeing just a sea of -- because of the congestion. we are seeing a sea of cars. we can see lots of red on the maps so indicating slow speeds. 280 showing yellow so once you get out of 92 over to 280 along the peninsula, there are delays there, as well. so avoid the area if you can. from christin ayers's live shot, roberts road near crespie, that's very high up there but there is congestion through there. i have had some phone calls from neighbors and friends asking about highway 1. highway 1 is open but again extra busy. skyline has delays, as well. bart later on 7:00 to 9:00 there is a possibility they may shut down trains because of the tsunami warning. right now, though, all trains are on time so far

they started evacuations in linda mar and pacifica. there is a sand berm at the front of the valley. beyond that on the other side it looks like a lot of those homes built below sea level so should that tsunami come on larger than expected and breach that berm, there is a possibility -- a possibility that those homes could be flooded. that's unknown right now. so we are waiting to see what happens in hawaii so we get a better idea of what kind of tsunami we are dealing with. so to be safe, move to higher ground especially along the west coast. we are seeing what looks like a pretty good tsunami moving in a little later on. keep in mind this is not your typical wave. this is going to come on at 2 feet. doesn't sound like a lot but there's a lot of energy behind that and what you get is you get a piling up of the waves as they begin to approach the coastline. watching out from washington to point conception to the bay area as the waves move on shore. once it moves out of the deep water it gets affected by the coastal area. a lot of the t

we are in pacifica very close to where your caller mentioned she lived on the hill in pacifica. i think we may be very close to where she is. i wanted to show you what we are seeing out here this morning. we are talking with the folks who live up in these hills here. they seem to be the ones who are staying. we see them walking their dogs coming down to keep an eye on the water, but the folks who live down low, there's a tsunami sign that i took a picture of. i'll try to get that in. a tsunami sign for the neighborhood down below saying that basically this has the potential to be a tsunami zone. we saw those folks packing up this morning throwing food and water and their dogs in the car trying to get out. they had watched the coverage in japan and they just really didn't want to take any chances. we are seeing a lot of foam, what the caller was talking about, just white water rolling into the beach here. and when we drove by, it is a lot like what she said, you just don't see anyone over there. when you see people, they seem to be heading east. obviously, away from the water. th
