you are on the peninsula close to the san andreas fault, that's western sf in daly city down to pacifica. >> yeah. probably felt it just after 07:00am. that is that 3.7 earthquake. we're talking about reports from several 1000 people all across the bay area to the usgs that they felt minor shaking. but for residents of daly, city and the western neighborhoods of sf, you felt it a little bit harder than the rest of us. not a lot of activity since then. so just that one quick jolt right there just after 07:00am southern california. it has been a prolonged very hard few days with this fire danger continuing. we still have red flag warnings and high wind warnings, although they are set to expire today. we have high wind watches going into effect this weekend for upper elevations. winds gusting as high as 30 miles per hour here locally as of right now and really at the surface, wind shouldn't be a huge problem. so a favorable weekend for getting outside enjoying. i mean, we're looking at way above average afternoon highs ahead of us. right now. we're 40's and 50's later on today. it's going t

that means a lot of people in the western neighborhoods of san francisco around daly city down to pacifica reporting some of the strongest shaking and it does vary quite a bit and a short distance. so if you were a little bit closer to mussel rock, that's where the san andreas fault runs right under the ocean. just west of the san francisco zoo. that's where you had that strongest shaking this morning. we're actually sending a reporter joey horta out there to talk to people in that area about exactly what they felt. now, of course, aside from this, a lot of eyes have been on the wind and those dry offshore winds do continue for southern california. something that does remain a threat into early next week. wind advisories for us here in the bay area will continue actually through the weekend, but only for upper elevations, 30 mile per hour gust max for us. so not exceptionally windy, but an a for sure temperature wise. we're fairly chilly this morning for a lot of us. palo alto in dublin, down in the upper 30's sf at 50 degrees. santa rosa at 39 later today will be talking all about tempera

here's a live look now from pacifica. a high of surf advisory will take effect later tonight. the rain has cleared out. it looks like it won't return for a while. the north bay did get one last soaking this morning before the sun came out. first alert chief meteorologist paul heggen with a look at what we can expect this weekend. paul? >> looks like the weather will be cooperative for outdoor plans this first weekend of the new year. the heaviest rain trekked across the bay area between 7:00 and 10:00 this morning impacting the morning commute but moving out quickly. the bulk of the rain was gone by about lunchtime. some leftover showers were with us intermittently this afternoon. still the possibility of a couple more of those through the rest of tonight, but they'll be much more miss than hit. how much rain did we add up? anywhere from 0.01-inch in antioch and concord, a trace to 0.04 in san jose, over 0.1 for livermore and danville, almost a quarter inch for half moon bay, 0.2-inch for san francisco. the highest amounts were in the north bay, a quarter inch in san rafael, a
