the winds also strengthening along the coast, especially at the pacifica pier. that's where we find abc7 news anchor dion lim with the latest on the conditions there right now dion. >> julian. it is raw. it is wet. yes. and in fact, it feels as though the rain is falling sideways because of the wind. in fact, this is why my photographer edward is going to be periodically using a towel to wipe off the lens because it is so incredibly wet out here. now, earlier today, the winds were the big story. we saw them gust up to 60 miles an hour. so much so that even the birds in the sky along the beach had a difficult time flying. i spoke to the department of public works, along with members of the fire department, who tell me they have extra crews deployed driving around just in case they see downed branches and downed power lines. in fact, one of those trucks from dpw just filled to the brim with debris from the roadways. we also saw down the pier not a lot of people out and about, but along the taco bell, the most beautiful one. at least that's what they say in the cou

i mean we've seen wind gusts anywhere up to around 55 60mph, almost just near pacifica. it's been a very breezy day all along that coastline, all the way down into half moon bay. and with those cloudy skies or those cloudy skies, we're not done just yet with the rain. so far we've seen close to around nine inches just since friday over in the kentfield santa rosa topping off close to six inches. so let's dive into what's happening right now. take a look at that first alert doppler this atmospheric river slowly starting to tilt its way just a little bit more south, meaning not only the north bay, but all the way down into the santa clara valley. we're going to start seeing these light to moderate showers, potentially turn into moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorm activity right around the corner. currently, we're seeing some lighter conditions closer to petaluma. heavier rain falling anywhere from bodega bay all the way over into guerneville. and we'll continue to watch this sweep off into the east with heavier showers into that three, four and 5:00 hour that stret

and the strong winds along the coast have begun to die down, particularly at the pacifica pier. that's where abc seven news anchor dion lim has the latest on the conditions. >> after a long, wet, gray, dreary day where at times it felt like the rain was falling sideways because of those high winds along the san mateo county coast. we are getting a break in the weather. the clouds are parting. we are finally seeing the sunset. it was a much different story earlier this afternoon when the winds picked up to up to 60 miles an hour along the pacifica pier. we saw those winds really whip the water. not to mention birds were having a difficult time flying in the air. we made our way down the street and to the most beautiful taco bell on the beach, where much of the seating was actually blown over because of the winds. a number of department of public works crews and firefighters told me they had extra crews out patrolling the streets. they were equipped with chainsaws and other gear in case they came across scenes like this. downed power lines and trees on top of those lines. the good

jesse gary, he joins us live from pacifica to continue our coverage. jesse. >> claudine, good evening to you. and power was partially restored to parts of pacifica about an hour, maybe 90 minutes ago. however, homeowners and business owners had been through this earlier in the day where service went out, was restored, and then it went out again. so we'll have to wait and see. there were strong blasts and gusts of wind this afternoon, strong enough to move a parked car, literally shake it hitting the area. and that's making it more difficult for pg and e crews to safely get the lights back on. tuesday afternoon along the peninsula, the forecast atmospheric river of rain finally made it to shore. a continued downpour coupled with high wind gusts, knocked out power twice to over 500 residents. in this coastal community. >> we lost power this morning like about 830 ish, and then it came back on and off for about half an hour. within an hour later, we lost it. so still, it's been off ever since. >> both homes and businesses had to deal with a stint in the d

so it was in place until 415 from san francisco down toward pacifica.ut it looks like the national weather service has let that go or let that just fade away. but there's the chance we could have some more severe thunderstorm warnings. kick up now here's a look at all of the storm reports scattered around the bay area. flooding some wind reports. in fact, i'll just click on this one report here. this is most at about 338 this afternoon. reports of some flooding in the hayward area. as you can see, the two right lanes under the overpass for this portion of the bay area. and that will be kind of a common report in the short term as the rainfall rates continue to pick up. here's the south bay view here from san jose to morgan hill. there's a closer look here with with the rainfall picking up for this portion of the region out toward san francisco, oakland and san ramon. you can see some of the coverage. and then up in the north bay, especially closer to solano and napa counties. we have the rainfall to track this evening. those those heavier downpours show

you're in the 40's in san mateo. 45 now pacifica. 49 in san francisco. then we start breaking out a lot of 30's and much of the north bay. 36 now fairfax. 39, it's no in 36 degrees in saline, frost advisory is going up tonight in the north bay, as you might expect right into the napa valley, too. the east bay also looking at some very cold temperatures overnight lows. yeah, probably mid 30's in spots i think it's a lot colder, though, as we look toward the weekend, some those temperatures as we look for the weekend, probably low 30's, maybe some upper 20's out there in the middle of the civic, though we've got yet another storm developing. this is going last in that series of storms making its way in this one. also tapping a little subtropical moisture mixing in behind that. you've got some cold air. so that's going to ring out some moisture in the bay area. again, bring a lot of snow in the high country so far. so good. just a few clouds begin to move in, but staying dry, but that will change as we head throughout the night tonight. of course. well, tha

still pretty chilly though in the low 40s out towards san francisco and pacifica. here's the radar imagery from earlier today. it was not completely dry. we still had some lingering scattered showers out there. you probably notice those big puffy white clouds, but we are clearing things out for tonight. and you can see this. the satellite for this evening. the main high clouds are moving down into southern california right now. the current numbers for the 7:00 hour cooling off already into the 40s for livermore, napa and santa rosa, san francisco. checking in 50 and half moon bay, 50 degrees. here's a live camera looking out above san francisco, the salesforce tower and the bay bridge with mostly clear skies, but we have that chilly start this weekend. chilly start tomorrow morning, and in general, it's a cool weekend because here's the weather pattern. this system up here will usher in that cool air. and also, this area of low pressure will set up some snow up in the seattle area. so it's not a mild to warm weather pattern. definitely a bit of a chill in the air.

also new tonight, an unusual drunk driving case in pacifica. police say a 26 year-old. >> was under the influence when she drove into a street sign and kept on driving with it, stuck underneath the car. this happened over the weekend near hickey boulevard and highway. 35 police say the woman drove about a mile with the street sign sticking out, assign damaged another car along the way. the woman was arrested for drunk driving and committing a hit and run. you're looking at a storage unit here filled with stolen items, including high-end electronics, gaming systems, electric bikes. santa clara police say they arrested 2 people in connection with multiple burglaries that have happening since october. police say the thieves targeted storage units within an apartment complex and still thousands of dollars worth of personal property throughout their long investigation. the thieves were found yesterday after searching 2 apartments in 5 storage units in santa clara and san jose. >> as voters in san mateo county received their special election ballots.

and once again, we are seeing the pockets of heavier rain there, raining in pacifica and towards halfy. and then we're seeing the off and on showers moving over toward the east bay, from the bay bridge toward oakland, down to the san mateo bridge and near fremont. but we're also seeing the rain just passing through the tri-valley, and there's still a chance of rain through 9 to 10:00, mainly south of the golden gate bridge. and then here we are at noon, with a possibility of some rain for the peninsula, parts of the east bay. and then it moves down to the south bay by 2:00, and the rest of the day is dry and mostly sunny. the weekend is looking good, but the cold air will come down and we could have some freezing temperatures in the mornings. and then next wednesday into thursday there is a colder storm system coming in that could bring in some widespread rain as well as more sierra snow and even snow on some of our bay area hills. but look at how much snow we may see next week. after getting a big boost this week, there may be several more feet of snow in next week's forecast as we a
