good morning, pam. >> good morning. new numbers out this morning show home sales dropped last month and na analysts say that's -- and na lists say that's slowing down the recovery. sales were down 5%. analysts sales continue to be slow because of the high unemployment rate and tighter lending standards. there are reportedly 4 million homes on the market right now. now, the bright side is sales are up 1% from the low set in january of 2009. another new report that could help things, mortgage rates are at a new record low, dropping for the fourth time in five weeks. according to freddie mac, the average fixed loan for 30 years is 4.52%. that's the lowest since the firm began tracking rates in 197. a 1-year fixed is 4.03. now, part of the reason is investor worries over the debt problems over europe which is causing people to shift money to treasury bonds and that forces rates lower. however, again, real estate analysts predict another few months of slow home sales because of the number of people out of work and the number
