pam cook is in the newsroom to explain. good morning, pam. >> reporter: good morning.to get a good look at the latest problem for the bay bridge. that's what caltrans is saying about leaks. now, caltrans plans a new conference at 10:00 this morning to give more deal tails about how rain water is dripping into the steel structure on the suspension stretch of the eastern span. engineers say you do your best and it's supposed to be water tight but water finds its way in. the concern, water is getting into the rail and is kind of dripping down some of the bolts that connect the bay area rail to the deck. >> the project engineer said they knew rain was getting into the bridge within months of the september opening. it took a big storm for inspectors to get a really good look at the problem. independent engineers say this could cause the bridge to corrode and significantly shoateen its life span. with more details on the problems, the bad bolts were discovered and repaired but a few weeks ago, several engineers testified to state lawmakers that they also had issues with conc
