(pam) in the east bay ... a fire broke out at a homeless camp that has had problems in the past.. it happened this afternoon, at east 12th street and 23rd avenue in oakland .... at a homeless encampment called "the village" police say, 15-to-20 dwellings were destroyed. the red cross is trying to help make other arrangements for the residents. firefighters were on scene most of the day. several weeks ago, fire crews say, there was another fire in the same area... and it displaced 37- people. lawrence karnow: we had a few passing clouds today with fog along the coast. highs were in the 70s and 80s in the bay and valleys with 60s at the coast. high pressure will once again build over california for the first part of the weekend. offshore winds will howl over the mountains with gusts high as 40 to 50s mph. red flag warnings are up until sunday morning. tomorrow will be mostly sunny with warm temperatures. highs will be in the 70s and 80s with even some 60s and 70s near the coast. it will cool

stone kron 4 news ((pam)) some frightening some ((pam)) ((pam)) some frightening moments at a north bay school today ... because there was a bomb threat. it happened just after 9:00-this morning at mill valley middle school. police say, the threat was heard on a voicemail at the school office. officials say, the school quickly activated its emergency response plan.. evacuating nearly 12-hundred students.we got the call in the morning and acted quickly contacting parents, and nearby residents. bomb bomb sniffing dogs went floor by floor ... and room by room looking for a device .. but did not find one. classes were cancelled for the rest of the day.the source of that call is still under investigation. (ken) as you heard an additional 8 bodies were found today bringing the total victims to 71. 58 of those have been identified but authorities are waiting on d-n-a to confirm their i-d's and notify their families. the number of missing people has almost doubled to more than a thousand. 12,263 structures have been destroyed.... the vast majority of those are homes. the camp fire has burned more than 146,000 acres and is 50 percent contained. more than 5,600 firefighters are on the lines. (pam) usually it is fog that blankets the bay area ... but now it is smoke. the air is unhealthy and people are finding ways to stay inside to protect themselves..
