anderson? >> pam brown, appreciate those details. more on how today unfolded at the white house and who was there as they did. you're learning more about comey's russian investigation and what he was asking for. >> we have learned from sources just days before fbi director james comey was fired, he actually went to the deputy attorney general and he asked for additional resources to pour into this russia investigation. now, we know this because comey met with the heads of the senate intelligence committee on monday and during that meeting, sources tell us they expressed their frustration, the senators, that the russian investigation wasn't moving more quickly and comey sympathized with that saying i agree. needs to move more quickly. i went to the new deputy attorney general who had been confirmed, and i asked for more resources to devote to that. now we know how that ended. james comey was fired on tuesday. just adds another layer to this question of whether the white house is truly being forthcoming. they said that the reason that

anderson. >> all right. pam brown, thanks. i want to get jeff toobin and ken cuccinelli's take on this. jeff ace former federal prosecutor, ken's the former attorney general of the commonwealth of virginia. jeff, what do you make of pam's reporting? >> this is an active investigation. michael flynn was the national security video to the president of the united states and he is under criminal investigation by the fbi. the president of the united states just fired the head of the fbi. i mean, it just so obviously speaks for itself, the wrongness of that. and ken just said a moment ago that -- what was the word? hair on fire or hyperventilating. isn't that what you said, ken? i'd like to speak out in favor of hyperventilating on this issue. this is not a normal political event. this is not some bill that's passed in congress or not passed in congress. this is about the integrity of the american judicial system threatened in a way that it hasn't been since october 20th, 1973, the day of the saturday night massacre. this is different. this is a categorical difference that the president of th

pam, what are you learning? >> we learned that not long ago, anderson, president trump met with then-deputy director of the fbi andy mccabe, now acting director of the fbi, according to the attorney general jeff saecessions and we learned that the president didn't know that the deputy director would become the acting director. i'm also told by a person familiar with the situation that the attorney general jeff sessions is reviewing potential candidates to take the place of the director of the fbi. we haven't been told any names yet, but that process is under way, because as we know, the firing of james comey has been in the works for a couple of weeks now, ever since rod rosenstein was confirmed in the senate. i'm told by a person that's familiar, that there were various ways that the white house tried to inform james comey that the president was firing him. of course there was the hand delivered letter to fbi headquarters, but as we know director comey was not there and there was an email sent to him about this decision. we're told that comey didn't find out from this letter, he found out by looking up at the tele
