oop and i am pam cook, time now 6:30. we do hope to interview the pilots and the plane crash landed on saturday with 307 passengers and crew on board. two teenage girls did not survive and many more people are hurt. now we do have team coverage of the disaster at fso. paul chambers has the latest on the treatment of passengers from that flight but we start with alex savage who was in mill bray and he spoke with the ntsb about the ongoing investigation, alex? >> reporter: investigators are trying to get a better sense of what they were thinking and how they responded in the final seconds of flight 214. they told me is a short time ago they will be sitting down to interview the pilots of that flight and really understand what they did in those final moments. you can see the wreckage still sits here at fso and according to that information, the flight -- this was the first time he had flown a boeing 777 into fso. overall they have flying time but he only logged 43 hours in a boeing 777 and is still in the process of getting

pam cook has more. >> good morning. well, rural metro provides 911 emergency ambulance services in 21 states and hundreds of communities including san diego, denver, colorado, seattle, washington and santa clara county. now, the san jose mercury news reports that rural metro corporation missed a crucial bond payment but the company tells us here at ktvu that its board and management team elected not to make that interest payment that was due on july 15th as part of an initiative to better align the company's finances. its credit rating has been downgraded to junk status. that has county officials scrambling to make alternative arrangements if the company cannot provide service. now, santa clara county threatened to end its contract with rural metro earlier this year over poor response times. now, the company sent us an official statement saying "from an operational perspective, it is business as usual at rural metro. we remain committed, as always, to provide life-saving services to our customers and communities." from

ktvu's pam cook is in the newsroom telling us the reaction from one of the young survivors, pam. >> yeahle to hear some of their stories. some of the people who lived through those horrible moments as asiana flight 214 slammed into the runway at sfo. one whole family was on board that plane. 15-year-old ester, 13-year-old joseph and 11-year-old sara jang and their parents were all inside that plane coming back to the bay area after a family vacation to south korea to learn about their heritage. they were all sitting in the back of the plane when the tail hit the sea wall and snapped off. it was hard to get out. my brother and sister went out and exited on the right. i realized i was lirning and their -- livermoreing and their exit didn't -- i was limping and their exit didn't have a slide. so a flight attendant brought me to another exit that had a slide on the opposite side of the plane. >> when we all reunited like my family and i, i was really glad and i started crying. >> they were reunited with their parents on board the plane. they were all injured in the crash. not sure exactly ho

thank you for joining us monday morning, first day of july i'm pam cook. >> and good morning, i'm dave clark. >> we begin with breaking news. bart workers on r on strike. and now 400,000 bart riders need to find another way to get around. ktvu alex savidge begins our team coverage this morning. alex is in san francisco where some bart workers are walking the picket line. alex. >> reporter: they are. they have been out here for the last couple of hours this morning. striking bart workers tell me they really feel sorry for commuters it had to come to this. they said they had no other choice. i want to show you the scene. you can see a group of about a dozen or so striking bart workers. union employees with picket signs standing here outside of the civic center bart station right now. a total of about 2400 bart employees are on strike this morning. and service across the system is shut down. these employees include train operators, station agents, and maintenance workers. this all comes after negotiations broke off last night between bart management and two employee unions. a negotiator i

pam cook a is here to talk about the situation that's heating up and getting very emotional. >> yes, it is, negotiations over the b.a.r.t. contract with workers will continue today. talks resumed yesterday for the first time since workers went on strike. but from the sound of it, the talks are not going well. workers say if a deal isn't reached when their contract extension expires next month, they will strike again. >> be prepared for the bloodiest, longest strike since the 1970s if these kinds of tactics continue. >> it would be disastrous. at the end of the day when people says who's side are you on, i'm not on anybody's side. i'm ron getting the train's rolling. >> it's -- i'm on getting the train's rolling. >> both sides say the top priority is is to reach an agreement and they remain far apart on pay raises and worker contributions to health care and pension plans. that's a part that many are commenting on, paying for more health care. they pay $92 a month, regardless of how many dependents he have. critics say b.a.r.t. workers are losing support from the public faced with anot
