i'm pam cook. >> good morning. if the wind picks up, you're probably in the 60s and then if not, the 40s. redwood city, upper 50s and 60s because any breeze is holding the temp up. the north and east bay hills. it means higher fire danger that takes us from the north bay to santa cruz mountain. source alone in boise to salt lake city and high pressure in the west follows with the north wind. sunny and breezy in the hills, probably in on that warmer at the coast. clear skies, looks good. 60s and 70s. low 80s. >> we look at traffic that is doing very well. driving on most areas, this is the look at the bay ridge toll plaza. light so far with no major problems on the spin. also, the traffic moves along nicely in san francisco along northbound 101 approaching the 88 split. in marin county, the traffic continues to look good and no major problems. i want to mention that traffic is okay across the bay as well on 80 westbound coming in from hercules to richmond with no major problems. let's go back to the desk. >>> the ch

ktvu's pam cook is in our newsroom now to tell us about the tensions in that community, pam, and also concerns of police officers. >> yeah, the shooting is dive individualing the community of -- dividing the community. angry protesters on one side, concerned police officers on the other. at the heart of the controversy was the shooting justified? now, at the time he was fatally shot by a deputy, 13-year-old andy lopez was holding a bb that officers say lookses just like an ak -- looks just like an ak-47 assault weapon. we spoke to san francisco's police chief about the case. he says officers often have little time to display a toy replica from the real thing. >> police officers have a right to defend themselves. they have a responsibility to defend themselves. in a split second, the officer has an opportunity to decide whether it's real or not. >> he says police officers routinely go through extensive training on when and when not to use deadly force. but that training can't prepare them for every possible scenario. now, as we've seen, hundreds of people when to andy lopez's funeral l

ktvu's pam cook is in our newsroom now to tell us what the pilots are saying now about that disaster. pam? >> well, the investigation continues into exactly what went wrong that sent the passenger jet slamming into the runway at sfo. this morning "the wall street journal" reports that the pilots have a different report of what happened than the preliminary findings. the paper said the pilots have said the problem with the jet's speed control system was a major factor in that deadly accident. so far, the ntsb says it's not uncovered any mechanical or electrical problems with the plane prior to impact. the agency says it is still focusing on why the pilots reportedly failed to check the air speed until it was too late. now, in our next hour of "mornings on 2," we have more of what the pilots are saying. more on what the data flight recorder shows in the public hearings that are now scheduled. reporting live in the newsroom, pam cook, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 7:33. we have new details from vallejo this morning about an early-morning shooting. police say a clerk at the roadway in on marip

. >> and i'm claudine wong in for pam cook. let's get a quick look at your weather and traffic. steve has been trying to warm it up a little bit. steve, i will say the fall temperatures are nice. >> it gets warm but it cools down pretty fast. we do have a lot of fog out there. if you are by the coast, its not getting very warm. 50s for many. low cloud deck and fog equals a dense fog advisory until 11:00. there is a lot of fog. thick fog. reduced visibility. it could be lousy to zero. very quiet here. just nothing changing. dense fog and clearing slowly to the coast. back over the bay. by friday a low will approach. i think it will just sit there and drive toward southern california. i think at best it will chew up the fog a little bit or ramp it up. 40s and 50s on the temps. really nothing every morning. these are about the same. san francisco and much of the coast. its 50s to very low 60s. we will go 63 but there are some areas i don't think we will get out of. a lot of lows to the north and south to the west. a lot of fog, sun. mild. there are freezing temperatures on the earl

pam cook is not news room with more on this disturbing story. pam. >> yes, it it. waiting to see if criminal charges will be filed against the owner of an assisted living facility that was shut down. the california department of social services ordered the closure of valley springs manor. this morning's contra costa times reports the that department has been investigating them for months. there have been several violationings, including a patient who was not supposed to be left outside went missing for days. also a diabetic patient received a sugary drink. and employees who did not receive proper background checks. however, when the nursing home was closed last week, most of the staff walked out with no arrangements made to care for the patients. >> how could somebody do that. we're talking human beingings. how do you just abandon them. >> reporter: . >> the sheriff's department says three employees stayed behind. a janitor, and two cooks. but they called officers a few days later when the patients were still there without proper nursing care. now investigators now
