pam. >> yeah. police need help, they are hoping witnesses step forward after a man was brutally beaten just outside his home. the pleasanton patch identifies the victim as 51-year-old davidamont who is in the hospital in critical condition. a friend tells the patch that lamont went to confront a group of teenagers at a loud party in the cul-de-sac. when he didn't return, his wife went to look for him, called him lying in the street and called 911. this attack happened after midnight on saturday on middleton place in what people describe as a very nice, quiet neighborhood in pleasanton. in a press release, pleasanton police say they are following up on credible leads in the case and they will have an update sometime today. now, officers say witnesses so far report seeing a dark- colored suv leaving the scene. the victim reported to be in a coma at this point. so he's not able to talk to investigators but we're in contact with pleasanton police. we'll bring you any new information as soon as it becomes available. reporting live in the newsroom, pam cook, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> 7:38. people who live in oakland's rockridge neighborhood are concerned about a rise in crime.
