pamela brown is also joining us now. what are you learning? got a report from you about a possible sighti ining of this gunman. >> that's right. according to the preliminary information, there was a sighting of him in the car in the all black and with the long gun. then the 911 call of a person walking down the road wearing black with the long gun. law enforcement is now trying to figure out who he's been in contact with and who else may be involved. >> so you have learned there's a potential id. >> there is a potential id. we know they've been up on his cell phone trying to figure out who else he's been talking to, whether there's a bigger conspiracy at play here. in the wake of what we saw in dallas there was an increase in chatter amongst domestic terror groups wanting to do something to police. we have no idea if that relates to this situation because the big question is were police responding to something else, another crime taking place, or was this a police ambush. i will mention one scenario officials are looking into right now is whet

let's get too pamela brown who's pulling double duty today. what more have you learned about what loretta lynch is going to say today? >> she's expected to say that she's going to defer her judgment to the career prosecutors who have been working on it and the prosecutors including the fbi director saying i will accept whatever recommendation they make. and she can't imagine a scenario where she overrules the conclusion they have reached, it's important to note, she's not recusing herself, she will still be the person who receives the findings at the very end, but she's going to say she can't imagine any situation where she would overturn that. this is routinely done in the justice department. they turn over their findings to the attorney general, it's not that common that the attorney general overrules for overturns those findings, but that she's coming out and making this public announcement that this is the way it's going to come down, it's pretty clear the timing of this after the political outcry of her meeting, this impromptu meeting. an

pamela brown has been working her sources. what have you learned now?'re learning more about the gunman just from looking at his activity online. he was involved with some conspiracy groups online and he posted on a blog for site, stop organized gang stalking. this is a site that discusses the stalking of citizens by police and other government entities. and he was also involved in other websites and conspiracy groups that, frankly, i have never heard of. he talked about a support group an organization called freedom from covert harassment and surveillance whose mission is to help those marginalized and abused by remote brain experimentation remote neural monitoring of an entire human body. we're learning about some of the groups he was involved in. he describes himself online as a freedom strategist mental game coach nutritionist author and spiritual adviser. sort of perplexing when you look at some of the stuff we pulled online. we've also learned in addition that he was a marine, a former marine. he was discharged in 2010 in the rank of sergeant. he

one thing i want to pull in, the reporting from justice correspondent pamela brown.t's aim was to wrap up the probe before the republican and democratic conventions later this month. you've characterized the bureau as famously apolitical. that doesn't sound apolitical if they're going to wrap this up before these major political events. >> no. when i say they're apolitical, i mean it doesn't matter whether there's a democratic administration or republican administration. when they work these cases, the facts are the facts and they'll present the facts. the timing of it, the bureau is well aware of the political process and tries not to be used in that process. for example at the height of a campaign, one candidate will make an allegation through surrogates about the other candidate hoping the fbi will immediately open a case and then they can say my opponent is under investigation. the bureau is mindful of the political process in wanting to get this done to not interfere one way or the other with the election. whether they recommend charges or not has nothing to do
