nbc 10's pamela osborne is live at the scene.am, even police are recognizing how tragic this was so early in the new year. tell us. >> katy, they were. the victim here a 71-year-old man. they say he was retired military. he was likely just walking home tonight, when he was hit in the early hours of this morning. take a look. this is a gruesome scene. investigators still here on chew avenue piecing to the the evidence. a 25-year-old man is in police custody right now. here's what we know. at 1:40 this morning police were called to the area of 12th and chew when they got here, they found that 71-year-old dead in the street. police say the car that struck him, a mercury sable, was going eastbound on chew avenue. the impact was so severe that he was either thrown or dragged a block down away from where police believe he was actually hit. the driver attempted to flee the scene but crashed a short distance later into a fence. that's where police caught up with him. he was transported to the hospital to be treated for a broken leg. poli

nbc 10 pamela osborne live on scene in zionsville. >> at this point in time, the fire is under control. step out of the way and show you. you can see firefighters still there around one of those buildings. i want to show you some video from last night when this fire started. now, firefighters right now working to get those hot spots under control. there are sealed roofs on top of these greenhouses. during that fire, one of the roofers on top of the greenhouse collapsed actually covering some of the stuff that was below it so they have been unable to get that area wet. so that brought in heavy equipment here to remove the steel roof so they can get water down on the areas to extinguish the remaining hot spots. that has been the biggest challenge for fire fighters
