panama city and panama city beach this evening, high tide around 8:40.n though the water levels are coming, the winds are pushing this away. high tide, low tides are different around the country, around the world. it's not bad here. low tide a foot lower than high tide. still the area of concern if you talk about where is this water going to pile up, where can the wind grab it? it's on the eastern side of the storm. there's the center of circulation. even though it's so far north and where the worst winds are, you can stretch back to the east. it will be grabbing this water and continuing to pile it up in the big bend. so that's where we can continue to see some storm surge being an issue here going forward. all of the water brought with it, but it's not going to allow it to retreat. our forecast of anywhere from 10 to 12 feet of storm surge along these areas, that continues to be an issue. it's not going to be allowed to retreat until eventually that wind moves off and we get better of a chance, this could still be a concern for portions of apalachicola

they give you a sense of the situation in panama city.kind of the scope of some of the destruction. it gives you really a unique vantage point. not only from street level but a bird's-eye view as winds have died down there. it's only really now that the scope of destruction is coming into focus. obviously, darkness has come there. for crews, it's going to be particularly difficult with downed power lines, water still out there. and debris. just to get around. a lot of the assessment is going to have to be done once first light comes tomorrow, which is also why there's curfews in so many of these areas right now. they simply do not want people out and about, obviously for the protection of property, but really also just for the protection of life. as we often say, it's the water that kills people in these kind of events. not so much the wind. that's where the vast majorities of fatalities take place, often after the storm in standing water. people driving into fast-moving water or hitting electrical lines. >>> just ahead, two people who ro

we don't have power in panama city. we don't have water in panama city. to give you an idea of the destruction now for the third day since the hurricane came. this is on the campus of the bay medical sacred heart. the largest hospital in the county here. now the good news is this is the receiving building. if you look in there, this is where the facilities and maintenance and this is where they receive equipment and storage. patients were not here. the hospital says it did receive structural damage during hurricane michael. they moved patients during the hurricane down to different floors. maternity floor. they moved them down. after the hurricane, running on generators, it is difficult to get to the hospital from certain areas as it is all around panama city right now. they are in the process of evacuating patients now to hospitals in pensacola and jacksonville and mobile right now. another hospital here in the county gulf medical is doing the same. they started yesterday morning here in the county. it should probably take another 24 hours. in the meanti
