i know i couldn't panhandle. to me that was a step down from asking somebody can you spare a quarter or a done. i still can't, and i'm proud of it. but i knew about canning. doing it walkabout in the put the noticed this beer distributor that there was a group of homeless out there and they were putting all these cans into one of these cardboard containers and they were going inside the store and coming out with cash. when i was living at home, it never really occurred to me to do something like that. whenever i had an empty can or bottle i would just put it in the trash but when i hit the streets i was saying to myself, this is an excellent source of income. so, the first time in 34 years i started canning. after a while, homelessness becomes a way of life. in the very beginning, i was content with making five, $10 a day but as time went on, i had a lot of time to kill, so i would spend more of it out canning. it was something to do. so i could easily make $50 a day, the men among. most people don't have any ide
