our equity partner, lennar urban, and its equity partners. all of us are incredibly privilege to be partnering with the city of san francisco and the u.s. navy to repurchase naval station treasure island. so i want to begin with why, why develop treasure island. to have that conversation, i want to start with a little context. what is before you is the set of images that show the population in the bay area over time, beginning about 160 years ago when the population was 75,000. 50 years later, it had climbed to 500,000. in 1940, when treasure island was one year old, the population had climbed to over 1.7 million people, and 50 years after that, the bay area population topped 6 million. the most recent census that was completed shows the nine-county bay area having a population almost 6.8 million people. i want to have you pause and think about something that you all low absolutely. over that time, growth has happened outside of the urban core, remembering something else you all know, that the infrastructure that best serves our region. this

and some of the new partners have been the adult probation department. some of the existing partners that have supported us are the district of attorney's office, department of children, youth and families and existing partner sfusd and the san francisco police department. what we have done is we work on a weekly basis meeting about what are some of the issues going on with this initiative, what is each department actually committing to in order to be able to reduce to of this that is going on with some of the young people inside sfusd. we have had joint meeting on a twice a month basis where we talk about the coordinated aspect of it. what we have done is -- all these departments have come to brainstorm how we can best serve through a family wraparound approach the families that come in. those are the new things going on with some of the initiative. and i wanted to mention it to you. this is a brand new effort to sharpen some of the services for those young that fall through the cracks or multi systems use. in general, i would like to say claudia is her

our other primary partner is university of california, san francisco. we also work with youth services . foster family agency in the bayview. child crisis and d.p.h. it's a pretty huge coalition of folks working on this project so it's wonderful and funded by m. h.s.a. so what is prepare? comprehensive outpatient program in san francisco county. utilizes evidence-based treatment and harm reduction approach, and the true targets of this are adolescence, so 14 -27. there is flex built, but our primary targets are 14 to 27 and a lot of these are 18 to 25 and their families are included. when i talk about what makes prepare different, this incorporates families into the treatment plan and two-year program. so it utilizes early intervention and diagnosis and comprehensive roster of services. there is the formal diagnose no, sir particular assessment after we do outreach. there is intensive care management, multi-family groups, support in education evidence-based education management. so there is things involved and i can't talk about the medication managemen
