there have been pasco county firefighters out, pasco county sheriff's deputies out and about in those high water vehicles working to rescue people who maybe didn't leave their homes initially but are now in a position where they're ready to evacuate. we've been in touch with them throughout the morning. at least 20 people have been evacuated. others they're maintaining contact with, calling every 15 minutes, a dispatch supervisor calling them every 15 minutes to check in, and once the conditions allow, they will get those first responders in to bring those folks out of their homes and to an area shelter or a safer place. so this is still active, still ongoing. the water fortunately is beginning to recede. some of the folks tell me they are worried. while it's receding now, they could see the water come back up again. they're concerned about high tide bringing some additional water in. i'll have another live report shayla reaves, fox 13 news. >>laura: thank you. >>russell: it's almost 6:40 and we have several reporters checking out the damage throughout tampa bay this morning. citrus c

people in pasco county continue hermine leave a mess. station's kellie cowan live in port rich the morning. kellie, how does it look out is there? >> reporter: pretty wet out here. pretty much the same yesterday afternoon when we were out here and they had really intense rains in the late afternoon into the evening and those r rains sustained through the evening and now they have just picked up again. i am going to show what you we are dealing with just behind me. this flooded-out portion of the street has cars stopping in their tracks around. that is exact hely what emergency officials want them to do. there are so many flooded-out neighborhoods in this area in port rich thank you are just having to deal with this, and unfortunately, it seems like the rains aren't about to let up any time soon on pasco county. and our viewing area in general, but especially pasco county where you have so many of these flooded-out streets and neighborhoods. emergency officials are told me they are going to have to bring in pumps and pump these areas out

>>> in pasco county, rescuers are heading into flood waters. marisela burgos is there live as they rescue families from the flooded homes. >> reporter: that 12 people in this neighborhood needed to be rescued from their homes. you can tell how high this water is. you can see the intersection at aurora and massachusetts. there is a lot of flood water that is covering this entire intersection. it's incredible to see the rescue teams coming out here trying to help the families here earlier. they did transport some people out probably 30 minutes ago. the rescues have been happening there were about so far 25 people in pasco county that have been rescued from their homes. particularly earlier today, it was in the green bay and hudson beach areas. so now they are looking here. at least we know there was a family that was rescued from their home. as soon as we get more information, whether more rescues are going to happen, we'll bring that back to you. marisela burgos reporting live, abc action news. >> thank you, marisela. also near new port richey,

deputies in pasco county are searching fo this morning... who ?shot a man during a road rage incident. jake everitt says he feels fortunate to be alive. his girlfriend's car is riddled with holes from that shotgun blast. she was driving down state road 54 with everitt in the passenger seat. everitt isn't exactly sure what they did to anger the driver in front of them. he says that person slammed on their brakes twice -- "brake-checking" them. both cars later pulled into a walmart parking lot off let them pass... then fired a shotgun at them. his window was rolled down -- and one of the pellets went into his arm: an x-ray of everitt's arm shows the pellet is still lodged in it. he says doctors believe it's safer to leave it in there, rather than try to remove it. deputies say the shooter was driving a dark s-u-v...with a rack on the roof. there was also a dog in the passenger's seat. anyone with information is asked to call the pasco sheriffs office or crimestoppers... which is offering a three ?thousand dollar reward. ever find an unexpected charg

meredyth censullo is live in pasco county. jamel lanee' live in clearwater beach. and ryan hughes is in cedar key this morning. and ed bloodsworth is in tampa monitoring the conditions. but first, meteorologist leigh spann tracking now tropical storm hermine with a look. >> that's right. just downgraded as of 5:00 this morning and the center has pushed into georgia. the scope of it is huge. extending basically fr now the land fall happened with 80 miles per hour winds, making it a category one hurricane at 1:30 this morning at the border of jefferson county. and now i'm going to talk about the effects on us. we have a tropical storm warning that continues for our area. that's the orange shaded communities that you see. that means tropical storm-force winds could still be felt because the feeder bands that wrap into the center of from the east coast to tampa but all the way out into the gulf of mexico. and this will continue to rotate onshore. not only because of the heavy rain that's going to fall but embedded in a feeder band, you get a lot of rotation. that's why

alcides segui is live at pasco. we talk car break-in so what are they going to try to do to prevent it from happening there? >>reporter: sheriff's office is using social media. it's a great idea. they have thousands of followers not only on facebook but also on twitter as well and we know that social media is expanding every single day and we know that pasco county has a history of auto thefts. back in june, in two to three weeks only, they had 50 car break-ins so the sheriff's office is doing something new. every night at 9:00, they tweet out a picture and post a picture on their facebook and it serves as a reminder to everyone living in the county and everyone living around the bay area to lock your car door, also lock your house and this social media blitz seems to be working as well because they have more than 100 retweets last night. folks are taking pictures of their locked doors and the word is getting out. auto break-ins are a problem for many parts of the bay area and pasco county, break-ins are focused aro
