hi, jane. >> well, hi, pat. there are unlucky communities where at least i guess on the good side they have power but on the tough side, their roads have not been plowed. this next storm is the ultimate one-two punch. i'm talking about specifically a community out in burke, virginia, near lake braddock road. we were out there a few hours ago. we saw just how treacherous it is for even a car to get down the street. one of the streets was old burke lake road, did get one pass. a brave driver tried to go down there and get to his house. but the problem was he gets stuck. and none of the other streets near this particular street have been plowed. so there's been a lot of frustration. we talked to the driver. here's the tips that he offered us. >> i got over here coming down the road. it was a little ridge. it just slid right into the -- it's a good car, but things happen. it goes to prove that even with a four-wheel-drive, you can't take anything into -- you know, you can't expect the best. >> i think that is a good

pat, you and i covered a lot of these over the years. this is about as bad a snow/wind combo as we can get here in midtown. >> reporter: i think you said it, brian. we weathered a lot of storms but this is starting to pick up in intensity. you see the wind is blowing, the snow is coming down. for the first time in a very long time, new jersey transit suspended bus service statewide tonight. that is a very rare occurrence, as of 7:00 tonight. they were able to do so though because ridership was so light here in the state of new jersey today, a lot of people heeded the warnings and did stay home tonight. for those who ventured out, state police say they responded to more than 450 calls for assistance. more than 150 accidents, and that's just the state police, not counting locals. one of the of the most serious accidents on the major thorough fare here in new jersey, route 287, involved a snowplow that went off the road. that gives you an indication of just how bad the roads are tonight here in new jersey. we are under about 18 inches of sn

pat collins is in woodbridge now with more on this story. pat? >> jim, a double murder in dale city. a mother, her 8-year-old son dead in their own home. here detectives are pressing to identify the killer. 8-year-old paul wilson found murdered last night inside his home in dale city. also killed, paul's mother, 41-year-old slavka naydenova. the two bodies discovered around 11:00 p.m. by mrs. naydenova's husband business as he returneo work. francisco lives next door. >> it scares me. i live here for 14 years. never a problem here. >> last night a lot of police? >> yeah, a lot of police. they were asking me if i saw anything. >> have you ever seen any trouble at that house? >> no, never. >> reporter: friends say that slavka naydenova was a land lady who made her living off of rental properties. she would often provide rooms for immigrants from bulgaria, here homeland. paul wilson was a 2nd grader that mary porter traditional school. news of his death, a great shock to the people here at the school. >> yeah, it's not real to me. it's just not real
